I like that the story quests so far are actually exploring the characters and were more about them and not some random NPC (Genshin). At leat genshin character stories have improved since Fontaine update.

Somehow I knew, maybe it was because of my history of liking these exact kinds of characters in Genshin, but it's always the ones that seem the most questionable on the surface that end up being the best of them. Eula, Ei, Yelan, all of them have reasons to act the way they do but ultimately are good people trying to do the right thing, just in a way others might not approve of. I knew Yinlin was a good person even after that cutscene of them "betraying" Rover. Someone trying to manipulate you does not tell you to not trust them, they don't invite you among their closest companions and leave you to look into their deepest secrets. That's what someone who doesn't want to hurt others who trusted them when they find out they aren't what they expected. The Limited Character Story Quests have both hit incredibly hard, and I think Kuro knows exactly what they have here in this setting, a setting in which everyone has regrets, everyone has something that haunts them and no one can overcome that alone. You can call it a cash grab by capitalizing on our feelings to make us want these characters but that's clearly never been necessary to sell people on a Gacha, aesthetic and gameplay are usually all people care for. But Jiyan and Yinlin have shown amazing depth of character on top of everything else and I love that. Wuthering Waves is an amazing game.

@@SilverBar_ This crossed my mind when I was finishing Yinlin's quest. We know so little about Yelan's history and I wish we could learn more from her whilst building up her trust. Instead, her quest is just about some forgettable NPC...

Doing the story quest, I was having a lot of questions. It was confusing on why Yinlin acted up like that until she secretly talks to Rover using the transmitter tablet. Thinking back, Yinlin did a solid choice on putting Rover in his/her honest feelings through the entire situation (being a hostage) rather than making Rover faking it (reduce risk of getting caught). For me, this story is fire, but for others, might be trash. Reason: not appreciating the story.
