YIP Eighth Parliamentary Sitting of Third Parliament held on 24th Mar, 2024

Proceedings of Sunday 24th March 2024, was the EIGHTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING (Third Sitting of Second Session) of the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM held at Ho Municipal Assembly Hall, Ho. The sitting was presided over by 'Rt. Hon.' Jones Amegashie-Viglo (Speaker of Parliament).
Also present at the sitting was Farmer Oxford Agboli (Best Regional Youth Farmer and Chartered Accountant) and Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto (Deputy Director, Public Health, Ghana Health Service, Volta Region) as Guest Speakers.

YIP HOLDS ITS EIGHTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING OF THE THIRD PARLIAMENT
On Sunday 24th March 2024, at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall in Ho, the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM convened for its Third Sitting of the Second Session, dubbed the EIGHTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING.
The Speaker of Parliament, 'Rt. Hon.' Jones Amegashie-Viglo presided over the sitting. The table office was headed by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Cyril Kekeli Amevor, The Majority Caucus, led by the Ag. Majority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Robert Fiawornu (Krachi East Youth MP) and the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Hubert Agbaxode (Akatsi North Youth MP).
Also present at the sitting was Farmer Oxford Agboli (Best Regional Youth Farmer and Chartered Accountant) and Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto (Deputy Director, Public Health, Ghana Health Service, Volta Region) as Guest Speakers.
The sitting commenced with a procession. Mr. Speaker proceeded to read the opening prayers and read the communications from the Speaker. Following this was the official introduction of Youth MPs present in the chamber. Mr. Speaker invited Farmer Agboli to speak to the house. In his address to the house, he commended the initiative and spoke on the farming profession. He also spoke on the accounting profession and made his observations on the 67 years of Ghana’s independence. Mr Speaker thanked him as he resumed his seat.
Mr. Speaker then called on Dr. Djokoto to speak to the house. He also commended the initiative and gave an account of the pre-independence and post-independence history of Ghana. He highlighted role players from the pre-independence era to the current 4th republic with special recognition to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Ft. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings. Mr Speaker thanked him as he resumed his seat. Mr. Speaker gave opportunities to Youth MPs to ask their questions and both Guest Speakers gave their respective responses to all questions asked.
At the commencement of the debate. The Ag. Majority Leader moved the motion to debate the “67 years of Independence from Colonial Rule, A journey thus far”. The Minority Leader seconded the motion. The motion was now up for debate as the Second Deputy Speaker, ‘Hon.’ Enock Kwame Sododzi (Youth MP for Sege) took the chair to preside over the debate. Youth MPs from both sides of the house made comments on the motion and after the debate, the leaders at both sides shared their comments on the motion. At the conclusion of the debate, the AYES had it and the motion carried. The Guest Speakes gave their closing remarks and remark was also given by Jones Amegashie-Viglo in appreciation to the guests for them attending to the house. The Guest Speakers took leave of the house after the remarks.
At the commencement of Public Business. the house received various reports from the following select committees of the house, Committee on Judicial Affairs and the Committee on Trade and Industry. Their reports were presented and adopted by the house. Mr Speaker ruled on the absenteeism of committee chairs who failed to present their reports at the designated time and proceeded to adjourn the house.
