Well, you got it wrong there. The antecedents were Persian before Arab and Turk!, even while exotic instrumentation flourished across Mesopotamia earlier, including the Elamite Kingdom, Persia, 3000BCE. Go to Persepolis - the friezes there still depict percussive and melodic stringed instruments within the kingdom and brought from near and far by gifting nations. Music was big there too. Without political or cultural bias, education has faltered to teach us history. Having said that, music is innate to the human species.
