Hey.. Great vid.. I was hoping you could provide some insight as I am oh so close to pulling the trigger. I am already building/painting MG kits and have definitely had some success. However, after seeing this video and how amazing the kits are I had a question or two..?? Do these resin parts snap in the same way regular stock Bandai pieces do? If not, how much work is required? And I know this might seem obvious but, is the best way to integrate these kits during a new build. I am just getting into my 1st Sazabi and I am about 60% done with part removal, clean up and priming. Wanting to know if this is clearly the best time?? I also saw as you were flipping through the instruction booklet that they kind of gave you a listing of parts in order to take an inventory, however, what I didn't see was step-by-step instruction for integrating these parts. Did I overlook that or is it in fact correct that there "IS NOT" detailed instructions for attaching every resin part (replacement or otherwise). And finally, as I said, I am already painting my kits and building to exacting specs and wondering if there is anything I absolutely need to know or be aware of before digging into one of these masterpiece kits.. Thanks very much for whatever help you can provide.

I will try to answer this the best I can...resin conversions for the most part will fit onto the bandai kit like the original part. Although some parts may need some additional sanding and alterations to fit perfectly. They require a lot of work as they require a lot of preparation of the parts, lots of surface sanding and rescribing...that sort of thing. In some cases you may even have to reshape the part by heating it up. As far as your sazabi this kit replaces a lot of the parts of it but honestly I have mine completely snap built already and I plan to tear it down when I get ready for test fitting the resin. So I see no harm in continuing your build if you want. It is a lot of work but not as much work as it would be to make the sazabi look like this from scratch lol. I hope this helps.

And as far as the instructions some resin kits have better step by step than others but this one does come with a visual aid labeling the parts as they are labeled on the parts list. So between the yjl instructions and the bandai instructions you can easily figure out how it is supposed to go.

@@GunplaJoey Thanks so much for replying and for your answers. I heard you mention the 1.0 set is more detailed than the 2.0 . Is it safe to assume that this also means the 1.0 is more difficult to integrate? I know you can only speak first hand about your experience with the 2.0 but I was wondering on what you have heard as I am kind of out on my own when it comes to Gundam kit building...

@@garethmurphy8235 the 1.0 only has a little more surface detail....more panel lines and that kind of thing. I think it more boils down to personal preference.

Is it okay to use cyanoacrylate (super glue) when assembling this resin kit or is there another type of glue that is a better choice? I typically use Bob Smith Industries Insta-Cure & Maxi-Cure for these type of things and that is what I was planning on. However, if there is a better choice I'd really appreciate knowing what that is??

Bob Smith Industries super glues will do great! Also 2 part epoxy for parts that will be supporting weight.

@@GunplaJoey what about Tamiya Extra Thin Cement.. I know that is mostly intended for plastic but will it work for a crack in resin??
@GunplaJoey
@GunplaJoey 3 жыл бұрын
@@garethmurphy8235 not so much in my experience. I have gotten resin to stick with it before but it's not as strong of a bond at all 😕. Thin cement is formulated to kind of melt plastic together, it doesn't seem to have that effect on resin.

@@GunplaJoey I did notice as I finish clean up of the resin parts and start my test fitting that I am probably going to have to use super glue in one fashion or another on the vast majority of the resin parts. This isn't a problem as I have the right glue for each need, however, I did just want to get some more experienced input and ask if this is the norm and to be expected. As I said, many of the parts are just going to require a dab or two of glue here and there but, there seem to be very few that will just snap together.. Is this the norm??
@GunplaJoey

@@garethmurphy8235 with resin that is definitely normal. It sounds like you have everything going in the right direction 😁.

Is version 2 better than the version 1?
@GunplaJoey
@GunplaJoey Жыл бұрын
Honestly that all depends on preference. Version 1 has more surface detail as version 2 is a slightly simplified version. Both are actually great.
