I can't ever get over that those guys can speak English with different accents. I'm a native speaker and I can't do any English accents. I feel so ashamed.

It seems to me that loads of europeans (i.e. non British) people can not only speak the English language perfectly, but they do it with knowledge of accents and regional dialects, and with knowledge of inherently British humour. How the hell that is even possible, I don't know, but I am in awe of it!

It's kinda logical. We have so many completely different dialects in Norwegian, so it's only natural to notice and learn accents in other languages as well. I think I could do at least three different versions of Norwegian-English alone, in addition to some actual English/American variations.

Just to be clear, they are doing jokes in another language and the audience gets it because they also speak another language. Compare that to U.K. And USA where everyone is lazy and expects every country to speak English

Careful, guys. Our great grand fathers came from Telemark, Norway and helped build this northern country, lost the old ways to fit in. But yes, we should all know our home language & others, at an early age. Don't think we sound to bad. Love your show, need caps thou. ; )

Do people really say "awesome" in Norway? (And do they really spell it "Åsåm?")
@MonaLisa_Ylvis10 жыл бұрын
Hey there. "Awesome" is like any other English word for Norwegians. The spelling though, "åsåm" startet with Bård himself, here, at 7:10 Ylvis on ABC News - New York (December 12, 2013)
@ElectariumTunic9 жыл бұрын
+talkingbowl I don't speak Norwegian, but it's pretty much a weird form of Swedish so I have complete authority on the matter. Neither "Awesome" or "Åsåm" are real Norwegian words. But if you would spell the pronunciation of "Awesome" in Norwegian, it would be spelled "Åsåm". The letter Å is pronounced "Awe", so it's a perfect fit. Another thing, that's at least is popular in Sweden, is that when a person in a comic (Or other written text) is speaking bad English, it's always spelled in Swedish. For example: Correct English: "I went to the store to buy food." Badly spoke English: "Aj vent to te står to bay fuud." ...or... Correct English: "Awesome" Badly spoken English: "Åsåm"
