this is an ACTUAL ba gua zhang master, unlike that one other video of two "masters" sparring by doing the movements without actually understanding them. i love this explanation because it has a spiritual explanation, not just the moves. 🤜✋(hh there's no emoji for the chinese martial art bow thingie >_>)

Actually, it means you finish running a circle by using exactly 8 steps. The turning of you foot by 45 degrees allows you to circle around your opponent's blind side very quickly.

Interesting to see a master of this style and see the actual movement and form. You can see the simplicity in his natural movement. To get to at this point it’s very hard work. As for the opinionated comments thinking they know better: “maybe you’ll come around” if you get my drift :))

Recently, I been experiencing many unfortunate events. The negative energy I was receiving from others or life events had really put me down. I had walked at the beach multiple times in hopes of taking the pressure off of me. One night I watched an old video from Jet Li. I was fascinated by the style he used. I decided to look it up. Until I found out, I did more research on it. Aside from the aspect of combat, it has other benefits, which I found could really lift my spirit up and reduce stress. I hope that by incorporating Bagua Zhang into my daily life, not only would my health would improve but my mood as well. It is the first martial arts system that will be introduced to me. Without further hesitation, I would do what it takes to change my life to betterment and rejuvenate the healthy and joyful state I used to have. I just purchased the bundle from your website. I will train religiously beginning today. I am happy that I have access to the books to get started. I will wait on the DVDS. I will also purchase the Bagua for beginners 2 once it is released in May. Thank you Chen Sifu for making this training available online.

In the West there was a style of saber referred to as "the Decans" based on the divisions of the Zodiac. It also emphasized the "connectedness" of the cycle of nature but suggested strategies based on the dominant "Humor" (element) of the opponent. There was only one pamphlet ever released and there are no surviving practitioners.

Chinese Martial Arts is a life prolonging, mental, and spiritual training. I love both the external and internal sides of the art, not only the forms, but the applications, theories, Daoist and Buddhist philosophies behind them. Above all, what fascinates me the most is universal truth that we may discover thru the training of this art. Chinese Martial Arts is so beautiful and profound. From its thousands years of history, we are able to see the wisdom of our ancestors. Although it is originated from China, it belongs to the whole world. The learning and training of Chinese Martial Arts is an inseparable part of my life and will never stop."

As much as I'd love learning Bagua Zhang, I feel the DVD would not be as helpful as actually finding an actual teacher. A teacher is still the best way to learn. With that being the case, at least a teacher can not only answer questions, but can also correct any incorrect movements and hand/body/footwork errors. Don't get me wrong. A DVD is great for having someone introduced to the practice, but it has its limitations.

Actually, you might be surprised to learn that Master Chenhan is now president of Shou-Yu Liang Kung Fu school. GM Liang learned this Bagua during childhood growing up on Emei mountain where the form was originally created, being taught by his grandfather, one of the earliest legendary martial art masters who taught and popularized Baguazhang. So...yeah.

I wouldn't say watered down, but it seems to me that all Liang guys are "disconected", for lack of a better word. It's like pure dance, only"form"; the movements are correct I guess but you don't feel this monolithic power you see in the old guys. Compare the Liang performances with a guy a like Bai Yucai, it's looks like a different martial art togheter, or tbe more precise, Bai Yucai's looks like a martial art, this looks like dance or gymnastics.

@@robertocalvo934 this video is titled "Bagua for Beginners". Martial roots, power, speed, fa jing, stances, martial applications are developed and expressed over time, based on the goal of the practitioner. This instruction is not a tournament demonstration, it is designed for a total beginner to begin learning; might be too simplified for your advanced level.

@@Ymaa_Publication_Center I'm not an advanced practicioner just an amateur and it's far from my intention to diminish the quality of the Liang family arts. I'm not qualified to judge, just saying that visually, the Liang performances always seem disconvoluted, to lack something. And the key thing here is "visually" which, at the end of the day it doesn't matter, as the real thing is martial arts is physical contact, and I'm pretty sure the Liang masters are all very strong
