When you suggested the bit about splitting up the groceries week I quickly realized you watched the same Hanna video that I did 😅!

I was about to say the same thing. I've updated our June budget to start budgeting groceries weekly too🤗😊

I do your groceries idea with my fun money - its too easy to spend it in the first half of the month otherwise. So I have a ‘fun money’ category which I spend from, and then ‘fun money saving week1/2/3/4’ which I fill up start of the month and then transfer from week 1 into my savings on the first of the month, transfer from week 2 on the 8th etc etc. Works for me and hopefully slows down my spending unless I absolutely choose to steal from a week ahead

That’s what I’m hoping it will do for us-my fun money has been a surprisingly easy save as I transfer it to another account immediately and I’m using it to save for long term fun things!

I loved Die With Zero; I found a free pdf of it one day and read it in like 2 days. I tend to feel guilty about spending money, but the whole point of earning it is to eventually spend it. I think it was really empowering, and I'd love to reread it again and have a nice discussion about its main points!

I am so excited to read it, I have heard so many people say they loved it so much.

Your description of your brain and its attitude towards your student loan is familiar to me, that is my hubby, which is why I'm in charge of paying his student loans. He doesn't like to think about them, so we allocate the money and I handle everything else. He never looks at that category on the budget. Whatever games you can play to achieve your goals, they are worth it.

Accepting that my brain is allowed to have reactions and feelings....but I don't necessarily have to ACT on them, was the biggest unlock of my entire financial and emotional life!! Making decisions and systems in a time of level headedness that function in times of high stress has been the KEY to all my progress.

You got this. August and November for you is another magic month. So there is your 613. If you are one month ahead with bills by November maybe you can finish both in December.

Those magic months are really going to be key to finishing it out in 2024, I feel really confident in getting that thing gone!!

Yes I do budget "Eating out 1 Eating out 2 Grocery 1 grocery 2 Gas 1 gas 2 Spending 1 Spending 2" So when I get paid every 2 weeks I divide it in half. Since ynab doesn't have a biweekly feature 😮

That’s exactly what I’m thinking and I think it will also help curb spending! We will see! Thanks for watching

Hey Kayleigh, I kicked off my YNAB journey back in October last year and your channel was one of the few that I watched and instantly connected with. As part of a Q&A I think a big one for me is how you navigated the discussions to get Shea on board with the method. My wife and I are chalk and cheese with finance but once I involved her with really practical and visual examples of how we were using our money she was bought in, and she now tells me where our money should be going! I realise that can be a very tricky conversation to have with significant others so would be interesting to hear how you guys did it. Cheers!

That is so kind, thank you so much!! Glad to have you with me. I wrote that one down-it’s a good question I think many people have to deal with in the beginning of their financial journeys if there is a partner involved.

but you have $115 for groceries which should get you a week which is like the 29/30 - basically end of the month anyway. Should be ok?
@justfinance33624 ай бұрын
We budget groceries for every Friday, so the 125 will cover the trip on the day we go next week!

Kayleigh, I think the grocery funding weeks ahead is a fantastic idea. So much, that I am going to steal that idea for my budget. THANK YOU! In another life, I was in a relationship with someone who took me to a lot of Broadway shows in both NYC and Detroit (I live in a suburb of). That was the BEST part of the relationship. TRULY! I loved every single one. My first one ever was at 39 years old and it was RENT! Still my favorite. I have seen well over a dozen. INCREDIBLE. I totally understand where you're coming from with wanting to see as many as you POSSIBLY can. DO IT! Fund it... BUT DO IT! 🙂 I have several credits on audible and am buying "We're Talking Millions" right now so I can be part of the book club! YIPPEE!! Have an awesome weekend with Shea in Connecticut. Hope everything goes well and you have so much fun!

One of the main reasons I wanted to move to NYC when I was younger was to have access to theatre-- it is something that I absolutely need to prioritize more. We are going to start entering all the lotteries to make our dollars go a little further! And thank you so much, I am sure we will have fun (and Shea's mom will put me to WORK)

@@justfinance3362 I finished the book. It's good. I'm happy to report that I started doing some of these things already, which makes me very happy. Can't wait to discuss!
