Nah I'm here from playing guitar 20 years but Rick did a great job. Yngwie is rarely that open and friendly. But I have met him in person after a show and in my short interaction he was humble, friendly and funny. He'd played a show in Asia and everyone sat down and nodded politely to the beat while me and a pal were drunk up front headbanging and yelling the song names etc... at the signing he said "hey it's you guys" and spent a minute or two chatting with us. I asked if I could have one of the Plexis but he said he needed all of them.

I think this guy is an incredible guitarist in his own right. He is definitely an innovator as well. The only problem for me and I am 62 years old and I have been playing guitar since I was six, is that most of his music sounds the same after a while. As a jazz fusion guitar player, my ears long for, a more melodic diversity. Again, I think he’s fantastic. But if you listen to someone like Mateo Mancuso, who can literally do anything, and is so good at speaking to the chord changes, that is when my spirit flies. That doesn’t take anything away from this guy. It’s just my preference. Cheers!

Whatever one thinks of him and his playing (rather brilliant I’d say), at least he can be heard over the backing - in a live setting. Most modern guitarists, of any style, seem to be virtually drowned out by drummers and a sort of bassy rumble noise.

5 minutes of this and I'm out the door. The Marshalls stacked behind him are the perfect metaphor for what he does musically. The hoary 80s hair band tropes, the hair tosses, the backward prancing when the passages get heavy, and most of all, kicking pics off the toe of his boot... It's wankerisms on the scale that Liberace did with sequins, diamonds and fur. Finally... being confronted with Yngwie's leather trussed "package" is revolting.
