Steve use a crack bar for the castle nut not a ratchet the ratchets can give way and it will hurt you or fly up and dent the car
@K21_KXW5 жыл бұрын
If you are pushing down unlikely it will fly up and hit the car 😂😂
@sruk5 жыл бұрын
No obviously didn’t read right if your pushing down and it snaps or slips the socket end will fly up also the landless will go down with hands underneath you obviously don’t use tools or you would know this

Tip for getting the bottom ball joints out - Use a long bar to lever the arm down with one end under the subframe. If it’s really seized in there you can open the bottom of the knuckle up slightly with a large Wide chisel. It wants to be large otherwise you’ll bottom the chisel out on ball joint first before it has a chance to open up the knuckle a bit. I hope that makes sense. I’m not a fan of ball joint splitters it’s easy to damage the rubber boot.

Thanks. Iv tried the methods you mention. I also haven't bought a splitter for same reason you stated.

Recently subbed, really enjoying your video mate! Hunter as mentioned is definitely the way to go, I've had it done loads of times over the years on past cars but my advice is to ensure the place your taking it to know how to do it properly - the last time I had it done last year on my MK3 Focus, I took it into a place nearby that I hadn't been to before and which had not long had a Hunter system installed, it basically it took them three times to during the session to get it right and one thing that stood out was that they were going by the computer readings before the car was fully in the air and making adjustment across the board - initially they insisted it would be OK but soon became evident during the test drives that it was not as the steering wheel was still off centre to the left & then to the right during the second. The third attempt I then insisted to get all of the readings in the green and as close to 0 as possible, to which paid off but took them a lot longer to do because they messed with the front majorly... all it needed from the very start was the N/S rear camper bolt adjusting going by the first reading with how in the red it was. I've never had this in the past with the other places I usually go, always was spot on the first time.

Great work, not an easy thing to find. I'd have got a new hub/bearing to fit with that replacement hub carrier though.
@steveoutdoors59645 жыл бұрын
Had issues myself with a bent hub. My pug 206 got hit by an hgv that pulled out of a junction without looking. I was in the turn box waiting to turn into the road he was on. Anyhow the damage caused my the impact apart from a dented wing appears to be the front shock/strut so had it replaced. The wheel alignment was improved but still was not right. Closer inspection revealed bent hub assembly. The actual impact was not hard by any means so we were surprised by the hub damage. As you say it's all a learning curve. ATB Steve

The full strut/shock was changed first. That's when they realised the hub issue. All work done by local garage.

Once you get the new suspension on you can get your geometry setup for the track and corner weights done. The road geometry is not likely to be ideal for track use. Likely this will improve your handling and don't forget about your tyres and pressures. Also you can consider nitrogen in the tyres as the pressure will change less as the tyres are heated
