This is awesome! But I'm happy it exists as a deleted scene and not in the final product. Yoda in these scenes is noticably lifeless. When Luke especially moves around and flings his lightsaber, you can tell that Yoda is just a rubber puppet. It was handled a lot better in the final film

This scene is in the novelization. Yoda holds out a piece of metal and Luke has to slash it into 7 pieces before it hits the ground. He starts off with nothing, but with time improves and is able to slash more and more. apparently its is some kind of self-healing metal bar. That's what he holds out, not his lightsaber. His saber is attached to his belt. He must sense when Yoda throws the metal bar.

Really interesting. Always love hearing about what the novelizations include that the film's didn't. It sucks most of the film novelizations aren't a part of current canon.
