Chris Bernau would have handled this with so much charm. I would have rooted for him but Ron Raines portrayal was not likable so he deserved every minute of this. Chris was the true Alan Spaulding

“BYE GIRLS, IT’S BEEN FUN!” Lmao. Also, Alex never called Blake “Chrissie” before this. That was very Roger-specific.

Alex called her Chrissy from time to time to needle her.

What was going on with Phillip and Beth at this time?

The fact that GL had JOAN COLLINS and couldn't keep her....Patti D'arbanville that they wrote off...Sandra Santiago that they couldn't figure out how to write for....not to mention killing off Maureen, abandoning Michael Zaslow when he fell ill, not knowing what to do with Holly after Roger left the canvas. ...Not being able to write for India, and not using Dorie as a character later on when she had ties to India, Dina, Ross, Vanessa, Phillip, I could go back as far as Roxie, or Claire. My point is GL didn't die from a few bad storylines, it died from writers completely ignoring the fans. Check out Douglas Marlands 7 rules for a successful show.

Since I was a fan of the show in the late 80s and early 90s, it odd to see Harley and Blake as friends! Plus when did Blake become such a hypocrite? She knew Beth was alive and still institutionalized Philip, contemplated killing Beth…and Roger was far from innocent in his marriage to Alex. Blake was far from innocent

Next to Michael Zaslow (Roger) and Christopher Bernau (Alan), Grant Aleksander (Phillip) was arguably the best male actor ever to appear on Guiding Light. Aleksander more than held his own with the powerhouse performers on the show, including Beverlee McKinsey's Alexandra Spaulding.

There are now *fifty* people on the board of a corporation? And they all have to own stock in the company to be part of the board? How could there be any stock left to be publicly traded? And that's an enormous, unworkable board size. Minor gripes. These scenes are a lot of fun, and it's nice to revisit a slew of old grudges and hurts all at one time. And of course India is the greatest (though her non-explanation about how Alex got her to come was kind of annoying).

Didn’t realize that India was back on the show later in these scenes. She cracks me up.

Ohh this was the period with fake alexandra with Joan Collins look Joan Collins was terrific on dynasty but come on Alexandra sounding British this was as bad as Carmen Duncan on another world playing iris VS bev McKinsey hint. Thank God when John conboy came in he corected that and marg dusay came back as alexandra the only other actress besides bev who could do Alexandra Spaulding. Finally I will say this only one other actress besides bev or marg I could see playing Alexandra Spaulding and that's Barbara eden who actaully would have been closest to bev McKinsey in portrayel. May bev and marg both rest In peice.

Phillip: Mindy, why are you here? Mindy: I had to come. (glaring at Alexandra) Alexandra (scoffing): Oh Mindy...nobody held a gun to your head. HA! YEAH RIGHT! Face it--the Baroness will NEVER let Miss Melinda Sue forget the disaster that was her affair with Roger Thorpe while he was married to Alex, which began when he lost the newly-opened Towers to Mindy's dad Billy Lewis. Talk about a classic moment of daytime honey & cyanide!

I just wish after this that the GL canvas had taken back both Krista Tesreau's Mindy and Mary Kay Adams' India (maybe a little more difficult, Adams did have some other irons-in-the-fire back in 2002 - 03.) There was a lot of missed opportunities shown, in just the near future -- from this time -- for this show, in these scenes. I actually did like Beth with Bill Lewis (Cosgrove should have been held on to), it made some sense to me that would end up happening and bringing back Mindy and India at that time or just a little bit later would have been much better then bringing on Jeffrey O'Neal, the Prince Richard lookalike or the Eden August redux. Had Gus turn out to be the son of a returned Rita Stapleton Bauer (perhaps married in the interim since her departure in 1981 to either an awake from his coma, Kyle Sampson, or attorney Derek Colby) and had there be a question that Gus was either Alan's or Ed's -- would have made the reason for Alex hiding the truth from Gus and Al more interesting (and yes there could have been a good replacement for Lenore Kasdorf not reprising the role of Rita if she had not wanted to or couldn't, by perhaps having Rita McLaughlin-Walters who use to play ATWT's Carol take over the role -- McLaughlin-Walters also looked a like Kasdorf to have been thought of in that role, later.) And have had Holly deal with the deaths in order of her mom, Barbara, and then Roger and also the return of her other brother Andy Norris (with him getting involved with either Mindy or Cassie) could have made for a much better show into 2003 and carried on how much they built on in 2002, that GL might have been save, very strongly, from cancellation 7 years after these scenes aired.

Right. Just look at when Mindy went off on Alexandra about the "vindictive mugging", holding up the envelope. Kimberly Simms, great as she was during the "Wrath Of The Baroness" in November 1991, might not have been up for a moment like this.
