Dev did something very courageous thing to produce write direct his own movie. He was tired of Hollywood giving him side kick roles. He said in an interview that he was embarrassed of his Indian roots but has embraced every bit of it now. I think he should get some encouragement from fellow Indians. Literally 100 generations of Ram‘s ancestors and descendants have been named in Ramayana, every ancestor of Ram has their individual biography written by different authors of different timelines. Every place they visited became a religious landmark by itself, there might be 1000s of such landmarks existing even now from North to South ( I’m from Karnataka myself, and we have a landmark in my birthplace as well ). Every character in Ramayana has their own individual biography and again landmarks associated with them. Name any mythology in any country in the world, where every nook and corner of that country assosciates itself with its protagonist.

Amazing setup; would change a couple of things. - Your light sources have significant hotspots, so going for a diffuser would definitely help soften it more. Aputure/Zhiyun ki lights (relatively) saste mein il jaati hai aur diffusers bhi thik thaak price mein mil jayenge. - Shot mein thodi se depth kam hai (all the props are at the same distance). Yogi baba wale part ko blooming ki jagah thoda proper expose kar sako to achha hai, aur left mein kuch nahi hai. Ek do cheez camera ke paas, ek do door hongi to kaafi better lagega. - Lower the camera just a little bit. - Mic thoda tilted hai (love the analog aesthetic tho). - If possible, add a couple of prop lamps!

I too watched the movie, but i disagree with you on one point, his motive was revenge. But then, the main antagonist was going to do same thing to someone that he did to him/her mother (Land grabbing), he did help them, gave them purpose, great portrayal of a messianic figure intervowen with utmost subtlety and it's beautiful. As a Hindu, the movie makes you ick at some places. But as a cinephile, it was one hell of a experience, terrific movie in every aspect be it plot, acting, direction, progression and pacing of the movie, just amazing. Nothing felt out of place to me. Perfectly written and executed piece of Art.

One of the main reason for its delay is the character named "Sita" whom is a prostitute and kind of love interest of main character. You can have a prostitute character named Sita in movies but u can't if your movie is inspired from Ramayana. I can see how it can be problematic for some.

So i wanted to say ki even though he wasn't fighting for other people, like transgenders and minority like you said ki uska motive hai ki bas uska revenge. I felt it was really good take of the story ki har baar ki tarah protagonist didn't become this good guy who is fighting for the society and all it's people, he remained commited to his goal. Even if a prostitute named sita (which is common name and someone being a prostitute does not automatically makw them a bad person or relation to them is something bad; they are mostly victim of circumstances) is there and even if the film is hinduphobic (which it isn't for anyone who actually saw it). The film has all the right to release. We are a democracy and our core foundation is free speech. And yes this also stands if the film was islamophobic or something like that (yes the left would go mad; but that didn't stop fighters, animal, padmaavat, or Vishwaroopam from releasing). I loved the movie the story line was great but the problem was that in the movie they showed the slums, the prostitution and the superiority. I study in UK and my classmates still ask me if there is any places to visit in India because everything they know about India is the slums. I mean anyone would think that about India because in Hollywood they make India look like poor and a very unsafe place. My friends here were shocked when I told them that Indian people don’t speak in that stereotypical accent like they usually do have in the Movies. I still think there should be some changes to stop this idea of how they look at us😢

I have seen that there is a prostitute named Sita, which made people angry, considering that the movie is kind of based on Ramayana. But what I believe is that the movie is, what if Lord Ram never existed (Like a What If Episode)? There is the personification of Hanuman (Dev Patel Character), there is the personification of Mata Sita, and the hijras were technically Vanar Sena. But there was no Lord Ram's inspiration. Now imagine how dark Ramayana would have been if Lord Ram never existed. Ravan would have been on rage fire (It's a good thing that Ravan was a devotee of Lord Shiva, else he could have been even more evil, like in the movie). Hanuman felt underconfident, but Lord Ram helped him to gain confidence. The exact same thing happened in the movie. Alpha and Lord Shiva helped Dev to gain confidence. And guess what, Lord Ram is a big devotee of Lord Shiva!!! As for anti-Hindu and Anti-Muslim things, the movie only said what was happening in India, not a brief explanation. So that can be passed. The movie was not perfect but was definitely not bad (Especially the cinematography!!) You can watch it if you love action, but what I believe is that there was nothing that could hurt someone's sentiment. Definitely an 8.5/10!!!

That trans people arc was good, 2 scenes which I feel could provoke people were first that throwing god idol while stealing hotel lady's purse and idol photo in the brothel fight. Baaki politicial riot could be the major reason CBFC don't want to release it, cause if people get sensitive to 'Animal', is movie ka mix masala ending kuch bhi kara sakta hai.

Just like how Hanuman got back his knowledge after finding a Bigger purpose which was fighting along with Ram for greater good here in the movie he finds a bigger purpose to fight the evil .

Koi religiously insulted feel kare ya na kare, movie bakwaas hi tha. It's kind of like a woke, leftist interpretation of John Wick. On one hand, isko ban karne ka koi reason nehi tha. On the other hand if they simply allowed it to release without any controversy, the movie would have flopped anyway. It's just another shitty movie released along with the masterpiece Dune 2 and fan favourite kung fu panda4. Definitely the movie should not have banned. The movie talks about a lot of things such as class conflict, gender biases, conditions of the other religions in India and dogmatism. But, surely it should've been released I think brings out a major point. It's not the religion it's the leaders who are the propagators of these ideas of violence more than anything. But, a revenge action thriller had a lot on it's back. I felt it was too much to be discussed in a such a small span of 2 hours. Either it needed more screen time or else some themes were not at all needed. Cinematography and the colours used are too good. Technically a great film but could've been better and yeah the inclusion of Zakir Hussain is something I never expected. Any who'd like to add something to this ?
