Ben has the right of it: Jerry's insufferable. There are several episodes in which Tom is explicitly kept by his owner to catch mice and faces eviction if he fails, and Jerry's just there to steal literally all of the food in the house. I rooted for Tom in every episode, even though I knew he'd always lose.

to be fair, if jerry is smart enough to not get caught for as long as he has, i'd say he's earned it. i mean, what's he gonna do, get a job? go shopping? best he can do is just survive his fucking apeshit environment, steal a meal when he needs, and he'll be doing fine. maybe tom's just shit at his job, but either way he hasn't been replaced or anything like that so his owners must think he's doing fine

And then there was that episode where he spends the whole time looking down on a downtrodden Tom, who has no home, and was dumped by a cat he loves, so he sits on the tracks and waits. Jerry sounds uncaring of his plight, only to find out right at the end that his own girlfriend dumped him for someone else, so he goes to sit with Tom. that was actually a freaking sad episode when you think about what happens at the end.

In olden days, cheese had to be left on shelves to age, flipped once a week and salted to keep moisture from forming. So while other stuff could be put into jars and containers, cheese had to stay where you can have easy access to it. Mice don't like cheese in particular, but it was most often what would be left out. They prefer grains, which we always had, but would store in containers for that reason.

@@TheMirksta That's.... kind of the thing, though. Ped DOES keep going when people get genuinely and obviously annoyed. It's happened multiple times. The first race in this episode was kinda bad, but nowhere near his worst. At his worst, he can turn an entire video into a frustrating mess - certainly for the viewer, but probably even more so for anyone trying to actually race. I remember there was one episode where Ben essentially sacrificed his entire chance at participating, in order to try and keep Ped from ruining the fun for everyone else, who were all getting VERY obviously angry.

The thing about the Tom and Jerry situation is while it might be Tom's job to catch mice, there are two major problems with Tom's methods that prevent you from sympathizing with him. #1 Tom is also a thief. The entire point of getting a cat to catch mice is to prevent the mice from eating your food. Half the time we see Tom, he's loaded up several plates full of entire turkeys and cakes just for a snack. We know from various other episodes that this is not Tom's own stash of food, his owner frequently tells him off for eating everything. All Jerry wants is a single piece of cheese. #2 Tom refuses to actually finish the job. There are a decent number of episodes where Tom actually *does catch* Jerry. However, in these episodes, he never actually eats the fecker. Nor does he kill him. If the catch happens at the start of the episode sometimes he'll kick Jerry outside, but if it happens at the end he always comes up with some sort of elaborate torture chamber to imprison Jerry in. His job is to kill the mouse, but he only ever wants to see the mouse suffer. All this stacks up to a situation where both Tom and Jerry commit the same crimes, however one is doing it with malicious intent while the other is doing it for survival, which makes you root for Jerry.

I realize that Penguin does it because he aims to be entertaining, and on some level I assume Lewis/Ben/whoever is in charge of the recordings, do think that he brings something to the table. I respect that stance; but as I said I think it is (or has become) a bit of a ‘one trick pony’-situation where all he does is trolling, to the point of tedium. That doesn’t make him deserve hate however; I don’t think bullying people into changing is a particularly good mindset.

I know it's all good fun amongst friends and all but for me Pedguin really sucks the enjoyment out of GTA for me. He's great in TTT but a lot of the time in the GTA videos he's just antagonistic rather than funny, which wouldn't be the worst if it 1. didn't happen every other video and 2. wasn't taken *way* too far on multiple occasions. A little bit of fucking with other people is great, I just wish Ped toned it down a bit.

Ped accidentally discovered the meta for the cat and mouse game when he was in the passenger seat and was unable to blow up lewis. It counts as friendly fire so you can't. If you have two people in one car you don't have to worry about blowing yourself up so you can still fight back when the cats are right next to you.
