I started a playthrough myself after watching this... One thing I relaised quick is that food is... counter intuitive. Both Bread and Bread + Berry Meals take more time to make / are less efficient then Porrage. (due to the extra time grinding flour that can't be sped up with good tools) Like, it works out that you want FIshers if Space is limiting, Else just porrage. (cooked in stoves, due to better tool speed bonuses then firepits) Do make me some chicken meals for Sacred points though. Recently I also ended up adding slinger bois back to my base, but like, way closer to the entrance of my maze so they attack first (their range is much shorter, I ended up putting them on the sides of my base where the zombies walk past). They kill off all the 1hp zombies so the crossbows dont spend all their expensive arrows. Playing the game made me realise that.... This lot are doing pritty well when there's so meny little weird balance things that are kinda half better half worse then when they last played.

Lewis, you probably want to place your dropper traps near the end of your maze. That way you don't waste a 500 damage attack on a 100 HP Boi.

They don't trigger like that. They will only activate on a mob that has 1,000HP or more

Each outpost has a threat level. The threat level determines how much HP is spawned each night. Zombies spawned for Outpost A will not go to the main colony if the maze is too large. They are spawned for that outpost or colony specifically. You can see the local threat vs the total threat of all your outposts and colony combined at the top. If you look at the Sanctifier (I believe its the Sanctifier, if not it's the emergency button) it will tell you how much HP is spawned for that colony/outpost you are currently in. At my threat, I get about 270k HP spawned each night. Meanwhile, two lockboxes take that HP to 302k in my main colony. The more threat, the higher the HP spawned non-linearly. 100 threat could be 50k HP, 200 threat 85k HP, 300 threat 350k HP (all example numbers). EDIT: Also Duncan is really screwing himself over with making his maze a requirement for his people to go to work in the fields...

As an American, i can confirm that a lot of Walmarts, among other stores, sell guns. Typically, the gun aisle or section is in one of the back corners found with hunting supplies.

in Walmart Canada they're not allowed to sell real guns, so they only have air rifles, bows, crossbows, and stuff like that. For actual guns you have to go to a licensed hunting store. Or at least that's how it is in Alberta. Never mind that a bow can be far more dangerous than a shotgun if you know what you're doing

The gold ore is a bit deeper than the iron ore. But depth is measured from the surface... and you're under a mountain that's dome shaped. So, in practice, what happens is that you've got iron and tin at a certain depth, but then there's also gold ore on the same level a bit further away, because though gold is 8 blocks deeper down, the mountain above is higher at that point, so 8 blocks away, it's 8 blocks deeper, as measured from the surface. Indeed, with a mountain, what I like to do is find the iron and tin level, then dig out a massive floor at that level - typically, I'll dig out the whole level, from safe border to safe border, so it's a big cave / chamber that's as big as my safe zone and no zombies spawn inside it. Then what you find, as you're under a mountain, is that the ores are in concentric circles. Because depth is measured from the surface and the mountain is dome-shaped. You have an outer ring of copper and clay, an inner ring of iron and tin, and then a centre of gold ore - if you dig out your chamber at exactly the right level. Then you can have your whole mountain mining operation working inside this chamber - as there'll also be areas with no ores, outside the concentric rings, and that's where you can put beds, food shops, tool shops and, on the surface above this, I like to have rows of furnaces for converting all the ore into ingots. Then the mountain can become "the mining colony", and you can free your main colony from that responsibility. So remove the mining from the main colony and replace it with food production instead. That's one of the cool strategies with outposts - that you can make them dedicated to a single purpose, as they share the same colony-wide inventory. So the main colony can be all about food, the mountain colony all about mining tin and gold, the marsh colony all about growing hemp (only grows on marsh dirt) and mining lead... and so forth. With the main colony producing tons of food to feed all the colonies, as the colonies all share an overall inventory, so are implicitly trading goods with each other.

i go for the most circular looking patch of snow and dig a 12x12 square in the center, straight down, it finds the gold core and then from there like you say, you can get all the concentric circles of tin and iron

Yeah, the usual way to do the traps is that you've got your traditional "maze" for the zombies to wander around, and you build a "second floor" two tiles above it with dropper traps. So the ceiling is made of dropper traps, and it's also the floor to the second floor, which is where your trapper lads hang out. They wander about on top of this "second floor" just filling the dropper traps that murder the zombies on the "maze" below it. Then, when you get projectile traps, you place those to the side of the path of your maze, one tile down, so that it's in line with the zombie's heads. These fire sideways and you have them fire at the maze path. When zombies wander by, the projectile traps shoot 'em. This means that your "second floor" is bumpy, as the dropper traps are 2 tiles above the path and the projectile traps - in between - are 1 tile above the path, to the side of it, but the trap lads can happily wander about on that and arm the traps for you. So you create this whole "second floor" of traps above the maze, and then have the trapper lads hang about on that floor (you want to place them nearby the traps, so that they can immediately get to work re-filling them every morning). If you're planning ahead, then you might also want to make your maze raised from the ground a little, as there are also "caltrop" traps later on that fire upwards, so you need to put those on the actual maze path as the floor - but your trap guys need safe access to refill 'em. So, yeah, dropper traps are ceilings. Projectile traps are walls. Caltrop traps are floors. And you can kind of build your zombie maze out of traps, but design it in a way that the trap lads can get to them all to re-fill it safely. But I'd advise the "second floor" strategy. Build your zombie maze and then build a "second floor" of dropper traps above it, with projectile traps one block down and pointing towards the maze path, to snipe zombies wandering along the path. Then, on this second floor, have your trapper lads live there - with some beds for them to sleep in, and a food shop so they stay at their positions. Then, every morning, they'll go about refilling the traps. And you just have it that the only access to getting up on this "second floor" is from inside your base. So your trap lads can get to the traps safely, without encountering any zombies (this also means you should build the maze and trap floor inside your safe zone, or the odd zombie might actually spawn on the second floor. So either keep it inside your borders, or you can station an archer or two to defend your trap boys).

Also the work stations you can have presets. Example you can select preset 2 and set a couple stations to just make the copper bars as first priority ect

I think the best design would be a base that is raised by about three blocks off the ground, with a floating path for archers that goes around in a outward spiral from the base, with a walled off maze walkway for the zombies to walk through, running parallel to the archer wall

@duncan , i hope you see this and remember during the next stream, pls change your copper lockbox to bronze ones they give WAY more colony point per threat to the colony, that will help you a lot in surviving the zombies attacks.

you dont have to in muiltiplayer you can set up a trader to trade with other players so you could all do a different outpost su duncan hemp, ravs tin lewis zinc (Its under his big tree there) and u can trade excess to eachother :P

Did maths 27 * 37 = 999 (and the closest I could get with whole numbers to 1000 on a grid) So, 37 blocks wide (for the short side of the beds) by 27*2=54 blocks long (for the length of the beds). 54*37=1998 blocks per level. At 10 levels deep, that's 19,980 blocks. It's too late for me to do maths, so I've probably messed something up though

Its crazy how badly lewis over complicates such a easy concept, his trap layout is so bad, he should set up his traps in a way where his bow ppl take out the weaker zombies and then anything that gets though gets hits with traps. He is just gonna be wasting his traps on weaker enemies
