I have an F82 M4 a bit tuned and some brake mods. I ran Nürburgring as my first ever track, then I ran some smaller track back home in Sweden and I'm sold, no more street racing. I'm going to do a lot of trackdays next year. But I don't know what tires to choose, my sport contact 7's melted and feels greasy. I want a tire thack doesn't melt on track but can last for a while on a regular road. I'm thinking about the AR-1's or AD09. I'm good with being a tiny bit slower as long as the tires doesn't melt and feel greasy.

Nice 👍 if you can get the AD09 cheap enough then I think they’d suit your needs. Do you have any extra camber?

Are your opinions purely based on testing tyres at Brands or have you tried at other circuits?

Brands is my local, so is the place I visit most, but it’s not the only track I go to. Snett, Bedford, Thruxton, Lydden and Silverstone aren’t that far. Sometimes stay up north for a few days, doing Oulton and Blyton in a few weeks, can’t wait 👍

Thanks for the real world feedback on these. It’s strange that there’s not a great deal out there, I suppose they need a Michelin logo to generate any hype and interest these days!

Thanks I dont feel so bad about it not being in my cars size now, I think ill try the AR-1 once my Goodyear supersports wear out.

AR-1 are a very different tyre to GY SS. If for mostly track use go for it but I wouldn't recommend for road as they're noisy, stiff and will wear quickly.

@@samellio Not an issue its literally to drive 50 miles to the track and back, Ive got a different set of alloys for the road, I bought the goodyears to play it safe with wet trackdays, but I think a better plan is road set for wet trackdays and semi slicks for dry ones.

Great review mate! Think I'll try em on the GT4 (only as A052 not available) anyway based on a couple of people who tried them on that platform, one guy timed and found 1.5 sec at an Aussie circuit. Could be the lower power of the GT4 combined with wider 295 rears and a bit less weight keeps them in a happier zone compared to the torque of the M4.

I think you should do that, you’re too quick on cup 2, the AD09 might slow you down a bit 🤞😂 If you do get them, check ATS for prices esp over bank holidays etc. Mine were £600 fitted for 275+295/30/19.

Thanks for the review. Kinda what I expected from a tyre that's meant to be good on the road and also in the wet. Some of the companies that review stuff favourably you have to take with a pinch of salt because they have other interests that aren't our interests.

Very interesting review !! Only thing that I have problems is finding sizes for the AR-1. If running stock 19" wheel I only see 265/35R19 & 275/35R19 as an option?
@samellio3 ай бұрын
I’ve run 265/35/19 fr, 275/35/19 rear in AR1 and also 275/35/19 square on stock wheels. It’s fine to run these sizes, you can check on the Nankang website for confirmation 👍

@@samellio I see. Also have you tested A052 in stock sizes? I'm seeing that they are also avalible

I've run a few sets of A052's but in 18's and part worn. Coincidentally, I'm picking up some A052 in 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 tomorrow that look almost new. The52's are fast tyres but in UK are very expensive and wear out very quickly. When they're worn they pick up punctures so you don't want to use the last bit. Time wise, I never beat any PB's on them but the ones I used had been raced on and were nearly dead. I'll try a couple of sets of nearly new A052 now, so interested to see how they do 👍

Have you tried the Yokohama apex V601? I'd like to know the feedback before I decide to go buy one

I’m afraid not, it looks to be more of a road tyre.
