the game feels incredibly fair barring difference between characters, so long as you understand the mechanics you have a chance to turn the tables on a great player just by thinking outside the box, it's invigorating

I agree! It does eliminate the reflexes part so you truly can always outsmart your opponent if you find the chance.

Usual Fighting Game Combo rules, as long as your move has fast enough startup to hit before they recover from hitstun it should combo and you can get creative with it!

Have you ever played tekken or similar fighters? You just do button combos to get this size of moveset. It’s pretty easy to go way beyond this amount of moves.
