I still use Gen 1 88s 3u (both a green/red and red/white version). I tried the Gen 2 but it didn't feel right, maybe just needed more time to acclimatise to it, but decided to stay on Gen 1. Did you try 3u or 4u? Interested to know your thoughts on the different weights if you were able to try them.

When I used to play the Gen 1 88d, I used the 4U but even still found that to be a little heavy. I tested both 3U and 4U for the 3rd Gen but nowadays I feel that I prefer 4U rackets especially if they are naturally heavier or if they are head heavy@@new2melbtango

Damn I just got the 88S pro wanting a bit more smash power. I am getting into the intermediate level only and was originally using something like a whip - nanoflare 700. I didn't want to go to the 88D because I fear I cannot handle its stiffness and end up not even being able to smash. But after listening to this, I hope I would still love the 88S when I use it to smash from back court. I mainly play doubles and as of typing this, I haven't tried my new racket yet.
@howeezy6 ай бұрын
The 88S Pro and 88D Pro are both the same stiff profile actually. I think either way you will enjoy the 88S Pro in terms of better attacking/smashing over the Nanoflare 700!
@GrandTheftAutoFans16 ай бұрын
@@howeezy I tried the racket. It was next level. Initially it felt off I didn’t have enough power but after warming up, it felt like a cheat. I could clear so high being out of position and all smashing are crisp. All net shot control is easy and consistent. I’d say drop shots are harder since it’s a struggle to be gentle.
@elijahooi98Ай бұрын
@@GrandTheftAutoFans1Hello! Just curious to know how things have been with the 88s Pro since then! I am considering the 88s variant over the 88d for the same reasons as you so I'd like to know what you think!
@GrandTheftAutoFans1Ай бұрын
I ended up getting both rackets. Although many recommended the 88D Pro, and I agree it’s better overall, this isn’t the full picture. I actually win more games with the 88S Pro due to its consistency and ease of use. The main point is that the 88S Pro is simply easier to play with, providing better accuracy and making front court plays much more effortless. After playing with them for months, I can see that the 88D Pro has more potential, especially with its slightly better smashing power when using proper technique. However, I’m irrational in why I’ve chosen to prefer the 88D Pro-it’s because the smashes are more satisfying, and when you play with a racket that’s a bit harder to control but you manage to handle it, it feels that much more rewarding. But if I have stakes on the game and it’s not just for fun, I will probably rely more on the 88S Pro to cover my lack of accuracy skills and far reduce net plays errors by trading the fun rear court smashing power. For context, both rackets suit me well. I tried the 100ZZ, which offered even greater smash power, but it tires me out faster, and I struggle to defend as quickly as I can with the 88 series. All variables like string tension and grip are kept constant between the rackets.

Is there a risk of damage if your racket is rarely used but you left it strung? Or are there any tips and tricks for racket care that you rarely use?
@howeezy7 ай бұрын
Typically, no because the racket should only lose tension over time. Only caveat is if the racket wasn’t strung properly and there is disproportionate tension throughout the string bed. Then that could possibly cause the frame to break. I would say, just store the racket in a place away from extreme temperatures and away from sunlight and usually that should be good enough.

Also huge congrats on 5k subscribers!

If you're looking for some more power, I think the Astrox series is the way to go. Yes, I think that the 88D is a good all around racket for all events. You can try pairing it with the regular Aerobite string, such a good feeling!
@jelugo778 ай бұрын
be careful thinking that a head heavy racket will give you more power. Thats only true for beginners with poor technique or with top players in the world in singles have the time and can generate as much racket speed with these rackets than with a head lighter one...but that is not true for you and me. You racket speed will suffer and you smash (in game situations) will not be as powerful. For me, the Thurster F is the sweet spot. I have the 88d pro. have tried the 99pro and 100zz. None of these generated as much power (for me) than the thruster F. For a racket for singles and doubles, Id recommend trying the thurster F or 77 pro.

Thank you! It depends on what you are used to or what you can handle. Higher tensions are going to be harder to control and also tougher on your wrist/elbows if you are not used to it. we need an new generation astrox100, gotta keep the old tech, but replace some with a power assist bumper and the namd. ngl, i would love to see how an astrox racquet similar to the astrox 100zz would perform if it was 10mm hh compared to 5mm hh; add the assist bumper; but also retain the shaft. lol just me being delusional.

My 88S game (2024) is not holding the tension. Anyone else here experience the same? Strung at 26 vertical and 27 horizontal, every shot feels and sounds much more dull than my other 2 older rackets that were strung at 25lbs

All things kept constant? Same string, same stringer, same knots, etc?
@JiJa2525u7 ай бұрын
Right! Same stringer, knots, all strung with BG80, my two previous rackets were strung by him at 25lbs, and this 88s game I asked for 26lbs. The stringer said the frame can't hold the tension well and most likely I won't be satisfied with it. Did the game model that you tested have a hollow feel to them during a hit?

@@JiJa2525uit's unusual. Have you checked your grommets and frame crack ? Do you play in a cold place or a warmer place ?
