even though the shuttle was on his side, his racket head may have been on Chou's side at the initial point of contact. If that's the case, the umpire's call was indeed correct.

@@mugdays Not sure what you are saying make any sense, if the shuttle was already on his side, how could he hit the shuttle on Chou's side at the initial point of contact? Think again on what you are saying. The racket head can follow through to the opponents side after the shuttle has been struck.

If most of the shuttle is over the net, but he first makes contact with the part that is not yet over the net, then it is a fault. Because of Lin's high flat contact it almost looks like he hits the feathers first. Although, slow-mo pause shows the entire shuttle did indeed cross by the time contact was made. Difficult for the umpire.

The umpire made 3 very tight "net fault" calls today, but I would say he only got 1 wrong (the one with Lin at the end). Probably felt bad for Chou so he had to give him one 😂. A bit harsh to say the umpire was "blind" though with only 1 mistake.

it's not a mistake - I still don't know why there are so many saying it was when X videos are available and ... everyone can watch it from slow motion. 1 cm or 5 cm cross the line are still within umpire's judgement call and they can opt to overlook it or rule on it.

CTC deserved to loose. Too arrogant with too much ego. Continue trying to play tight net at the end of second game even he was not in the form of doing that. Trying to prove something that is not helping him.

nope - check other video and even this one under slow motion ~ it doesn't matter if its 5 CM or 1 CM cross the line; it is still the umpire's role to make the call. He is fairly good at making close game calls and isn't favoring any player. + the last few shoot/score actually made the game somewhat more exciting to watch til the end but that's from a viewer (my personal) prospective 😇☺

@@victorlam318 i can imagine it because there has been several incident where a game's result was affected by a judge's call. That being said; the close call made by the judge even if result gets overturned with cTc's victory; I will still accept it. Several other sports even for games like Karuta had always try to strive to win by more than X+2 points to avoid it becoming a close match where it can literally come down to "Luck" with little to no skill involved. The bad calls in my eye are those which isn't close call at all and had been proven red-flag after review. e.g China Open 2016 and Umpire at that time was Cai-something. I still don't get how an umpire happen to be from the same country when that is against regulation unless there is really no one available due to...budget/pandemic (???!!)

@@mugdays if it play it back at 0.25 there's a clear frame where LCY's racquet makes contact with the shuttle when the shuttle has already passed over the net. If any part of the shuttle is on his side then it is a legal hit.

Do you know what you are saying or you are just not familiar with the rules? If the shuttle is already on his side, it's not gonna go backwards so how could it be possible for him to take it on Chou's side? Also just FYI it doesn't matter if his racquet crosses the net or not as long as he doesn't touch the net.

@@user-xh4gk8bh1r try play it under 0.25 or 0.125 if you have at option setting. It wasn't a clean hit and the judge was right. There is also one important prospective viewpoint many seem to neglect and that is ... *LCY's racket had already cross the line BEFORE it made contact with the shuttle* ... from the UMPIRE'S VIEWPOINT. Again play it in slow motion under 0.25 or 0.125 - this is regardless if the shuttle had cross on to LCY's side and therefore it is technically a correct call in the rule book.
