It's the fall of 1972 I'm stationed with MACV Adv TM86 Vietnam. I'm on the 6pm to 6am radio watch its midnight and I'm listening to AFVN radio, the South Vietnam anthem comes on and then the US anthem. The next thing you hear is Wolfman Jacks howel (and then in that unmistakable voice) and now "Looking Glass" with "Brandy You're A Fine Girl". I can never hear that song without seeing myself in that radio room so many years ago in a place so far away.

Yes mine was just living and working and enjoying life is southern Ontario Canada as a younger man. Brandy was very popular, especially among the ladies.

Elliot Lurie has still got it! Loved the original - love this version. Yonge Guns rocking the acapella harmonies. It's just SO.DAMN.GOOD.

No one before or since sounds like Elliot Lurie. One of the most distinctive voices in '70s music, and now in the new millenium with Yonge Guns.
@AnnieMac6084 жыл бұрын
Outstanding -- takes me back to my youth! What I love most is that he sings this with the same emotion as if he's singing it for the first time, and Yonge Guns provide a terrific backup that reminds me of the harmonies I sing now when I hear it on XM radio.

Nationwide if you meet a woman 40 to 50 years old named Brandy. There is incredible odds this man is responsible for her name. Elliot you have thousands of children😊

A great favorite song from my heyday plus one of my very favourite barbershop quartets equals three minutes and thirty-two seconds of pure joy. The lead vocal from Elliot Lurie is absolutely brilliant and beautiful. The chart is so perfect, and the way it all comes together is magic to my ears. Thanks for your glorious efforts, gents.

I played this for my 18 year old daughter and she said the same thing! I think she said something like "Oh, he's so sweet!" And then I found a video of their live performance from '72 and we both had a great time watching that as well. Elliot, you have aged GRACEFULLY!

Someone here says it Elliot Lurie had one of the most distinctive voices of the 70's much like BJ Thomas or Glen Campbell with a sound and an under-explored style. I urge everyone to search e-bay for his 1974 Epic single (i can hear your)""Love Song" on Epic label. It should have been a major hit. Happy to see that Elliot Lurie is surviving with great recordings with YoungGuns in 2020. Jack Fitzpatrick
