Here is a quick look at the Yongnuo YN-622N-TX commander unit. I just received it today as of this video's upload date (1/31/2014). Back then, the triggers had a lot of versatility compared to other options. The easy and quick ability to control flash power and groupings especially. Not to mention the added features such as super sync and the ability to update firmware over the 622N transceivers. As of 2018, I'd suggest looking into the Godox X system instead. It has more flexibility and covers everything from studio strobes to simple manual speedlites.

I have three SB600s and they all work in TTL and manual modes, or a combination of TTL and manual over the three channels. I can also zoom the flash heads and have each flash zoomed to a different setting in one exposure. I am using firmware V 1.03 at the moment.

I just purchased the Yongnuo YN622N-TX Controller and YNN622N Flash Trigger Transceivers for my NIKON D610/Nikon SB-700 Flash. After watching your great videos for the Yongnuo I began installing and following your instructions on set up. Either my camera is not communicating with the controller or the controller is not communicating with the transceivers. When you depress the TEST button on the controller the lights flash on the transceiver...but NO flash whatsoever. Is this an update issue OR do I have something set up wrong? Channel 1, Group A on both Controller, transceiver, flash and camera. When depressing the shutter release on the camera the lights flash on the transceiver...but NO flash. Settings on the Controller are NOT showing up on the flash when I make a change. Help please. Thanks, Dave

+Salvatore Vergone Ph I haven't used the 605N transceivers. Aren't they for the manual flash like YN-560? You *might* be able to at least trigger the 605, but that is probably it.

Hi, some time ago acquired a DEBAO SU-800, but to get about 20 shots have to let it rest, with YN622 TX, you have some limit of shots or you can use it all night. greetings

I have 2 D200 bodies. I have tried the YN622N-TX on both of them but either camera will not fire. If I put a YN622N on either body and another on a SB400 or SB800 they work fine. I have checked the firmware version on the YN622N-TX and it shows the latest 1.3 version. I know it's early days with this trigger, but am i missing something,?.

I don't think those settings would have any difference in your ability to use auto-focus. I don't know what could cause the camera to do that.

I'm still waiting for my TX to arrive from customs. It's been stuck there for two days so far. Can't wait. Thanks for the video! I think the SS mode is for the supersync = hss for dumb flashes? One question though is it possible to use the TX as just a controller since I prefer one of the 2 other transceivers I already have for their pass through for one on-camera flash?

Yeah, you are right about SS being the super sync feature. The TX unit needs to be attached to the camera for it to do anything. I tried it where I had the normal transceivers connected to the camera and flash with the TX alone. The TX setting didn't change power of the flash.

Hi, I use the exact same two flashs as you do but I can't get my SB-400 to fire. Does this flash really work for you with the YN-622N (TX)? I tried all modes but nothing exept test will fire the flash. SB-800 works good, just underexposing a bit too much. Thanks for you reply in advance.

I no longer have my SB-400, but my experience was that it did work with the two original 622N triggers I had purchased as a set early on. However, I had purchased a 3rd 622N trigger from a reseller on Amazon maybe half a year later and that one would not work with the SB-400 no matter what I did with it. All I can do is speculate as to why there is variation in these triggers. I ended up selling my Nikon branded flash and currently use two Yongnuo 568ex without any issues.

Hello, great video but I have a question. I have a Nikon D5100 that doesnt support HSS. Will I be able to use HSS on a YN-568EX flash if I use these YN-622N tranceivers? Or is it even possible to use HSS on a non-HSS flash like the YN-560EX or YN-565EX?

No, you will not be able to do HSS at all. It's a camera limitation. I had bought a D3200 as a backup camera in the past and eventually sold it because of the lack of features like that.

I tried my system out for the first time this past weekend. The issue I had was, my camera seemed like it would not focus. I was using a nikon d610 with a sigma 70-200. I just could not nail focus. I was using the flash which was a yongnuo 560II, as a back light on the dance floor. When I took the camera out of auto focus, the flash fired. So, I am wondering if the focus assist on the 622n tx was the issue?

It's hard to say. I don't have a 560II to test with. There are a few ways to control AF assist. 1. Turn it on in the camera settings (have it off on the YN622N-TX), this will use the camera's AF assist lamp. 2. Turn on the YN622N-TX assist lamp by pressing the AF/SS button, you should see the text "AF-ILL" show up in the bottom right of the trigger's screen. 3. Turn both off, so that neither happens, this will likely work the worst because the camera will have no assist light. If you are having generally strange issues with AF in dark situations, see if it happens with a specific lens. I've occasionally had lenses that seem to be a bit worse than others when focusing in low light on Nikon cameras, no idea why but it might mean the lens needs a bit of AF adjustment in the settings of the camera.

Everything needs to support HSS/FP Sync for you to get those speeds.

Will this transmitter trigger the remote flashes in manual mode using a non-nikon camera? I have the Phottox Odins but they won't trigger at all using my Olympus camera. The PocketWizard FlexTT5 does and allow full manual control with the AC3 Zone Controller on top but the system is very unreliable and expensive.

I've successfully be able to trigger a flash with the Canon EOS-M. I'll make a future video on this. Of course the flash is in manual mode and It is limited to the sync speed of the camera. I'm actually surprised it worked!

I had problem when I press shuter triger do not react. I found on net that d750 have longer hot shoe. so you need to put 622tx on right spot, pins must be on right place

Oops, I misread the question with my first response. I only tried two Nikon branded triggers, but I did run into issues. You should research any trigger you plan on using and see if it has worked for people. I don't recomend this stuff, but maybe current firmware has helped. It has been years since I used them.

Could you help me please ?, my problem is that with my YN622-TX FLASH CONTROLER, and my speedlite YONGNUO YN685 has the built in radio, when operaiting from the YN622-TX remotely and, programmed in manual mode, and the zoom also in manual mode , when changing the zoom values in the YN622-TX FLASH CONTROLER the speedlite YONGNUO YN685 does not, but when I have zoom in automatic mode and varied the focal length of my lens works perfectly, I am doing something wrong?

Update. I have had a chance to play around with these triggers a bit. I can confirm that they work with my SB600s and my SB800, or a combination of them on the three channels. They work in TTL and manual modes. However I have to have both of my D200s set on continuous-servo focus for the cameras to fire. If I have them on single-servo focus they really struggle to focus at all. I don't know why,?. Anyone have any ideas.

Is the max number of flashes 3 or could I sync like 8 YN-568 using one YN-622? and if not, could I sync several YN-568 using TT5s? Due to water issues, I'm down to one 480EX unit.

One thing about it that I really like is that if you connect a pc cable from the Commander to your camera, and happen to pick up an extra transceiver, you can use that transceiver as a wireless remote shutter release. If your camera supports the ML-3 like my D70, well and good. But when I picked up a D300s, the Nikon solution became much more expensive. Using the Yongnuo made it both inexpensive and easy.

Hi do i need to change power in Manual mode on both Transmitter and on flash as well as when I was trying I was change power on transmitter in Manual mode, but it dint changed the power Flash, and I have to change power manually on the flash separately.

The flash must always bet set to TTL. Otherwise it won't take any input from the trigger.

The manual power mode on the trigger should work as intended without touching the flash. Flash should be in i-TTL and the Yongnuo 622N-TX in "M" mode where you change the power level is how it should work.

Fire with TTL data? Yongnuo currently has a 565ex and 568ex for Nikon that can use TTL data.

Hi. Yes I have tried all ways. Another strange thing that's going on is that when the YN622n-TX is on either camera body (D200s) 9 times out of 10 the cameras will not focus. I have tried different lenses on both bodies but the same thing happens. Turn the TX off and they focus as normal. Strange. Regards. Tommy. Hampshire. England.

That strange because the D200 is listed as a compatible camera. Not sure as I don't have one of those cameras to test with.

Do you have any non-Nikon flash? What I want to know is if this controller can remotely manually control the power of a non-Nikon flash (which is mounted on a YN-622N). Even if you cannot answer that question still thank you for the video.

Those systems are not compatible as far as I know.

That's understandable, but consider using a flash bracket and attaching the flash and a 622N to that. Then set it to one of the channels and you for all intensive purposes have an on-camera flash.

The speedlights should be set to TTL. Otherwise anything besides the trigger signal from the transceiver would be ignored by the flash.

sergey krotov I haven't noticed any pre-flash issues with my gear. I don't think the units would even pre-flash when the TX unit is set to manual. Your best bet would be to ask the Yongnuo company.

Sure, my flash is in the ttl mode. And i have those preflashes. I have read internet and there are some people who have same issue. BTW i have nikon d80. And preflashes are with sb800 and yn586nx. I have found temporary decision to press fv lock which i have set on the hardware button on the nikon. It is better than nothing =) I hope when i buy d800, this issue will absent =) Thank you for the answers Paul =)

Thanks for the video. Got mine today. Nice, but SB600 won't fire with 622-TX in manual for that group but YN-565EX fires either TTL or manual group mode. I also can't get the zoom to work for either flash. Oh yeah, firmware upgrade software won't recognize the device on my Win 8.1 machine. Have you confirmed the zoom works and have you tried upgrading firmware (they are up to 1.04

Looks like I'm using 1.03 at the moment. I use Windows 7. I remember the instructions saying you had to hold the [mode] button and then power up the unit for it to be recognized to do a firmware update. I can physically hear my SB-800 zoom when I change the setting on the commander unit. Your flash should be in TTL mode if you want to control them from the commander (TTL EV comp. or manual power adjustments both need flash in TTL mode). I don't have a SB-600 to test with.

Please set the flash mode to iTTL no matter what's set on 622n-tx. Also leave the zoom to Auto on the flash.

Photography Banzai i was able to update on a windows 7 machine because drivers were automatically downloaded. Both flashes are on ttl and set on auto zoom. the sb600 intermittently zooms and works with ttl or manual on the 622-tx, but will suddenly stop zooming or responding to ev changes. I have not been able to get the 565ex to respond to zoom commands, but it will work in ttl or manual on the 622-tx.

I have the D750 and it works. Unfortunately if you have SB-600/SB-800, there are still incompatibility issues. Both my SB-800 flashes either severely under or overexposes. I even upgraded to the latest firmware and that is still a problem. I think it has MORE to do with the SB600/800 being a much older flash system.

Sorry, I haven't used this camera gear it years. I can't give you exact information. If you mean the flash attached to the wireless transmitter, it would have to be in full communication (TTL) with the transmitter so that the commander would be able to adjust the flash. Technically you could leave the flash in manual but all you probably be able to do is trigger it.
