Yoni Z! You saved my life! I used to be off the derech as well. I too, was wandering the streets drinking alcohol and puking in the gutter. I was fueled by a blind rage that made me break picture frames and TVs - they rendered me a total imbecile, some likened me to the incredible hulk. I too was about to drive my car into a pole out of sheer irresponsibility and a lack of a desire to live. But now, thanks to your amazingly auto-tuned gibberish, I have recognized the error of my ways and returned to my loving, non-judgmental parents who accepted me unconditionally at every point in my life. So thank you Yoni Z, you saved my life - not just in Olam Hazeh, but in Olam Haba as well. And that's what really matters. P.S. The beat was kind of catchy. Good job.

And while some individuals might have a substance abuse issue, there are frum individuals that do too. In regards to parents, Unfortunately, there are some parents that are judgmental, while some are loving. This story is just one. Others have a different one that might be completely different. I think the problem is when people are just told What to do, but are not taught Why to do, and how to feel it and internalize it. Some are just shown strictness WITHOUT wisdom, beauty and joy of our heritage. This is unfortunate. While one might feel okay and just going about their life, inside, the soul is malnourished. We want to connect to Hashem, but not in a way that is stifling. There are different ways to the Source, and children should be raised to enjoy their heritage and see the wisdom and beauty in it, so they can reach their spiritual potential. And no matter what, parents should love unconditionally, just like Hashem loves all of us. Btw, there is a great Science and Torah section on Chabad.org
