Great reaction. I had the same reaction when I heard him sing the phrase "gave up the ghost" because "die" is translated in the King James Version of the Bible as "give up the ghost." So, I happily sing the song with Sungjae (about 4 times a day) changing the word to "give up your ghost." 😂Because Sungjae is so talented and determined, he is catching people's attention in ways he wasn't able to before. His singing has become more stable and relaxed over the years and he is the "Sun" in the BTOB food chain so he gets a lot of support and patience from his brothers. I actually listen to "Yook" and "Come With the Wind" from his 1st solo album "Yook O'Clock" a few times a day. I also like "HMHN" (produced by Ilhoon) from that album.

Thank you for reacting to this song. Well, I hope too that it only means he wants to give up or forget the ghost or the past and move on..hope it's not pertaining to that 'other' darker meaning. But anyways, this song was made by Andy Love and he said he really liked the way Sungjae sang his songs and he felt that he found the right one to sing his song. Sungjae already heard this song when he was still under Cube but he really liked it a lot. So he bought it..really used his own money to buy this song and make it his. He's that serious..haha. Well, honestly, money wouldn't even be a problem..fact is Sungjae is literally born with a 'golden' spoon. His family is one of the richest in SK..with his grandparents being the first ones to introduce Japanese Kois in Korea..they have fishing farms. Also his dad is the CEO of a big company that makes semi conductors and parts for Samsung products. He has money but was taught about the value of it so he learned to work hard and dream big. All his accomplishments as an actor and idol was really from patience and hard work and we're all so proud of him. Wow I love your detailed explanation. I even Googled the meaning of “give up the ghost,” and you're right, it means “to die”. But if you look at the entire lyrics, the use of that meaning turns out to be a bit of a contradiction, right? Another fun fact of this song: they made like a kor-eng guide for The Ghost but Sungjae insisted on singing it on full English coz he feels weird singing it in Kor-Eng P.S., I totally understand what you're trying to say about the meaning of give up the ghost and don't worry melody are respectful and understanding especially on someone's beliefs 😊

Just to clarify, it's not "suicide," but more accurately "die." So if someone just "gave up the ghost," they just passed away. But the way he was using it, seemed to imply that he would "die" to rid himself of the person's ghost We have! Hyunsik's album is sooo good. It doesn't have an MV, though, right? Boo.

For my opinion, the ghost meaning is the feeling still lingering in him the person who disappointed him. Or also can be not about the person maybe a company where he been before too. So he need to leave all the bad memory behind , is time for move on! And start fresh with the new path 💙

The context of “The Ghost” song revolves around moving on from a person or memory, not related to the “s word” or Christianity. I respect your take, but as a Christian and an American, I don’t see the connection of the song to both at all. Like you said he is an idol. Understanding the context of songs is crucial to avoid misconceptions and unintended consequences, especially for public figures like idols who are under constant scrutiny.

It's very interesting that you don't see the connection at all, as we have had multiple viewers on various social media platforms confirm the connection. Just to be clear, we aren't saying that the song is necessarily about suicide, specifically, but that the phrase "give up the ghost" is a phrase that we have heard as a reference to death/dying.
