Honestly, never before have I felt so disconnected with the negative reviews for a video game than I have with this one. I purchased this on sale just before Christmas and just finished it to 100% last week and I completely fell in love with this game. Granted I'm a huge fan of the collectable/3D platform genre (Banjo Kazooie is one of my all time favourite games) and it is absolutely NOT without it's faults (Rextro and Kartos I'm looking at you...) but overall I had a blast playing this, warts and all. I'm almost glad it wasn't perfect and had those glitches and issues, was a kind of throw back to the 3D platformers from the N64 era lol.

To be fair the game was REALLY wonky back when it came out and the negativity was deserved, but i recently replayed it and it feels so much more polished now and i was genuinely enjoying myself this time around, i wish more people would give the game another chance.

Agreed. Besides the Kartos and Rextro minigames which incredibly all sucked, the game was a lot of fun and totally feeled like a Banjo-Threeie.

Just bought it, because it was on sale, and i think it's a fun game, and anyone can play this. If you have nothing to do, and you are bored or in a bad mood, than this is just for you. While it has a special feeling like the old Ratchet & Clank games, the first Jak & Daxter game, but also Banjoo Kazooie, Spyro the dragon, and Crash bandicoot, if you like those games, than this game is great for you. I liked Yooka-Laylee, really, I did...... But I wish they had just gotten voice actors to do the characters. I wasn't a fan of the whole text-speech thing in the Banjo games either, but it's understandable if they had technical limitations. Nowadays, there's no reason but nostalgia. It's not a huge deal, and if people like it that's cool, it's just one stylistic trait I never personally liked.

Well, nostalgia was the game's main selling point, and the text speech grunts were basically a trademark in the Banjo series. The camera was a way bigger problem than the lack of voice acting

Why did many players dwell on this game feeling outdated? My opinion, you can’t beat the classics, and I’m glad that a company that came from Rare finally put a game on a Nintendo console again (Switch), and this probably brings back memories of the Nintendo 64. Most importantly, is this style of gameplay any more outdated than the side scrollers? That goes all the way back to the NES. Think about it. Remember the time that this style of gameplay with the control stick was seen as a God send? Don’t forget Super Mario Odyssey combined elements of Super Mario 64 with Donkey Kong 64. No one thought that was outdated. Last but not least, Rare released Banjo Kazooie games on Xbox shortly before this generation started. All I’m saying is that Banjo is bringing 3D platforms back to its roots, but in a “with the times” kind of way.
