I think what really separates this song from others like it is that It emphasizes understanding without attempting to justify people's perspectives. At no point does Marlon use the cop or the klan members' perspectives to make it seem as though they're justified in their thoughts and actions. The only way to combat dustructive ideology is by first understanding its origins. It's seems straight forward, but so many of these "white mirror" songs seem to be missing this key component. Unfortunately, that's why a lot of them come off corny and counterproductive. Great reaction, my guy! You should definitely check out more Marlon. You said you don't care much for political music, so I would check out his Sway or I-95 freestyles. He's got some real good introspective stuff like Something Wrong in Heaven, Marathon, and Distance. That or if you like gritty lyrical stuff you could check out Hanz Zimmer, Halal, or The Answer. You really can't go wrong with anything he's done, if I'm honest. He's actually allergic to missing 🤷
