Thank you for sharing this, Dennis! I think on my next trip to England, I definitely need to visit York! I found that there is a lot more to England than I realized , and you can't see everything in one visit.
@Verderer10 жыл бұрын
Did you really think you could see everything England has to offer in just one visit? Please tell me that you didn't, really! You can't even see all that the City of York has to offer in just one visit, however long that would be! You can live for a hundred years in England and still only get to see a mere fraction of its many delights and things of great interest and infinite variety, whatever your taste and desire may be. I spent my honeymoon with my civil partner in York....and yes, it only took a few strides to walk the length of Whip Ma Whop Ma Gate. Judy Dench has a special affection for York - it's her home town and she was born there...so was Dick Turpin (highwayman 18th century style) and so was Guy Ffawkes (who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder in 1605.

You might be able to see "everything" in England if your visit lasts about fifty years. I think you were joking with that comment, though. Good one !

What year is this from? Im from york and i remember the town centre looking like this when i was very young
@denniscallan7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is one of my classic videos of York, from 1995. Some parts of the center have not changed in a long time. You can find my more recent York vids here: kzbin.info/aero/PLke86NFI6R8yykx09YVB0S7f90E4OeULd and more of the old ones here: kzbin.info/aero/PLke86NFI6R8yykx09YVB0S7f90E4OeULd

@@denniscallan It is nice to see a bit of nostalgia. I remember visiting in the 60s or the 70s as a child. The centre is still much the same. I went last year.

1995 York City Centre, I never thought the large 'Splash Palace' toilets would ever be demolished however visitors today would be forgiven for not knowing the building was ever there.

how do you know that this was filmed in 1990s ? it could be late 1980s or late 1990s
@gardensofthegods6 жыл бұрын
Funny how most of us do not know the origins of the word shambles and what it really means and we think it's simply a place that's broken down or a chaotic mess but we don't realize it's speaking of maybe looking at a lot of Gory meat and organs and animal parts

+Lyss G Looks like lens flare, from the light. Our guide, Warwick, liked to poke fun at ghost walking tours :) He said, "we are not in competition: I don't tell ghost stories and they don't tell the truth."
