York Minster Bells

Some opening rounds on the glorious back 10 bells, of the Cathedral and Metropolitcal Church of St Peter York, before a touch of plain bob and little Caters. Tenor bell weight, 59-1 23 in Bb. This peal of 14 bells are also the heaviest peal in the county of Yorkshire.

is st peter the minster as in the saint the minster of york is dedicsated to ? if so this has complete my question as if the minster has a st dedication

Lilly Louise Yes York Minster is St. peter. Some simple googling and you’d find that out.

sounds similar to exeter

Ringer Fred These are actually deeper than Exeter (only just however). Exeter are roughly Bb-24 (460Hz). These are Bb-39 (456Hz). The difference is minuscule, however although these are lighter than Exeter they are deeper.

@@jasonburnet9181 Well I suppose science must prove your point but I’ve listened to both tenors back to back and Exeter’s sounds slightly deeper to the ear, however that could just be me.
