I used to love the biscuit and raisin Yorkie. I also remember they were a bit more expensive than the other bars: in about 1982, I remember a Mars cost me 15.5p, but a Yorkie was 18p. Now I live in the States where all chocolate tastes like wax, I'd give my right arm for a Yorkie!
@97channel9 жыл бұрын
+John B Sorry to disappoint you, but Yorkies are pathetic nowdays. They're tiny, as are all other chocolate bars, due to industry wide downsizing. The formula is different, tastes more like the old Dairy Milk now. Mars Bars ain't what they used to be, either. They're fluffy and not dissimilar to the old Milky Way bars.
@betaman79888 жыл бұрын
I often wonder why people say chocolate bars were better in the past. Everywhere you look, every brand of chocolate bar was said to taste differently to what it is now. I understand that they keep downsizing chocolate bars but is it that they've changed the recipe or is it that we didn't eat as many chocolate bars then as we do now... If time travel ever becomes a reality I will go back to the 80s and buy a load of chocolate bars to compare to the same chocolate bars in 2017
@97channel8 жыл бұрын
Oh, for sure, many chocolate bars definitely tasted different back in the day. Some changed their recipe, such as Mars and Milky Way. Mars used to be chewier and Milky Way more chocolatey than the milky taste of today. But then there are those which never claimed to have altered the taste, yet are certainly different. A couple of years ago, Cadbury's downsized Dairy Milk and drastically altered the shape of the bar to pad out the pack. However, when people started complaining that they'd ruined the taste, Cadbury's were adamant that they hadn't changed the recipe. However, people insisted (and I agree.) that the texture was lighter and the taste more creamy, Cadbury's then conceded that whilst they hadn't intended to alter the flavour, they'd carried out research and discovered that the new moulds were causing the ingredients in the chocolate to cool and set at a different pace and that it was indeed affecting the taste. So I fully believe that when people say chocolate tastes different today that they are right, and that an accumulation of small changes in production here and there have inadvertently altered the flavour. To let you in as much as I dare on a little secret, I work for a big snack food company and they are privately struggling with two factories producing goods which vary dramatically in taste between the two sites and they don't understand why its occurring.
