Oh my, the weather was rather gloomy and breezy. Having said that, the countryside still looked so beautiful. Haha, I loved the goofy smile/grimace! 😬😂 Aw, poor you. Thank goodness your friends had a very extensive first aid kit! 🩹🩹 The Samaritans do a wonderful job, on both sides of the pond ❤

A permissive path is a route on private land that a landowner allows the public to use, but with no intention of making it a public right of way. Permissive paths are also known as concessionary paths

Well, that's might kind of ya! You're good people, you know ♥ We saw a great documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge a few years ago called The Bridge -- it's so heartbreaking. We are happy that there is a net there now to help protect people from their darker urges. On to happy things, this is an awesome location (and a WEE bit rocky!!) and our favorite shot was the pic of you peeking through the li'l wall 😊 This is like the PERFECT place for Wuthering Heights, so gotta give the scouting/location person some major props for that one. Whoever they are 😂

Lovely to see Mallam Cove again, it's been a while since I've been there, however in May I will be going to Settle with my dog for a week (she's asleep on my lap as I type this), we will have a walk to Mallam and the cove while there, it will be a long day but I feel inspired by your video, I did camp there in the 80s and 90s while cycling around North Yorkshire. I had forgotten about Janet's Foss, thank you for the reminder, a stunningly beautiful place indeed, I visited the pub where you ate (I'm guessing it's the same place) there were two pubs and I went in both, one was a bit rough "loud and a bit hectic" so didn't stay for more than the one drink, and like your visit, the weather wasn't great either. Standing at the foot of Mallam Cove can be a little frightening, much higher than you expect, it's odd how the water seeps through to form the stream which needs a bridge over the road in such a short distance, a true hidden gem of a place.

Malham Cove is definitely one of Yorkshires highlights. We did it for Jills birthday a few years back, great day. Watch out for those tractors. This is a really atmospheric day. Dont get me started on slates, swear words in our books atm. Janet’s Foss is very magical. Nice photo, we have the same one! So much magenta! Nice sheep entrance. Oh no, sorry about the tumble, it is hard to traverse! We have those Samaritan signs on our bridges, they do great work, im glad you were able to link both amazing charities. One of my best friends volunteers at the British one. Liquid bandage Gary? The perfect day in the Dales. I was meant to include this in my favourite Yorkshire Days Out vid I did last year, but I ran out of time, this is definitely up there! You did it justice. Sorry about the Yorkshire Dales weather! ❤

One day you'll have to tell me your thoughts on slate shingles ;-) Send me your Janet's Foss photo! I'm glad to hear that there are Samaritans signs all over. I wish I could have linked the Donate button to it, but at least I was able to link to the American one and provide a link to Samaritans somewhere. Thanks for watching! XX

Great scenery, old barns, lovely old stone walls, all bathed in glittering, warming - rain - Ho hum. Oh well, it is England after all! So back home and in 6 hours it'll be sun soaked like Tenerife, probably? But despite all your trials and tribulations Dara you reached the stone pavement as they call them in that neck of the wilds. Thats a heck of a sheer wall of stone there. Ah they cows be "coos" in country speak. My old Mum always called them coos and her family were farmers in deepest Dorset (Darzzit) going back to before 1500 and in all probability the 1,500years before that in those little villages that they called home. Coos they were from way back in the Anglo-Saxon and Viking languages and if you ask a Norwegian today they'll tell you they are coos, exactly as we do here. Great food, now I'm so hungry too! Loving all your adventures Dara, happy trekking, lovely countryside too, Frank

I knew that Scots call cows "coos" but I didn't think about it being a Viking word. Thanks for teaching me yet another Norwegian word (in addition to Foss!)... very fun for me because my brand new daughter in law is Norwegian!

Some really beautiful countryside there. I love that the Foss is called a Foss. I love the usage of old Norse in the North. Gary's first aid kit is very similar to the one we use on our Aussie walks. And we do have a snake bite kit which is essentially just a big wide bandage. 😂 Considering that we have 18 of the 20 deadliest snakes in the world on average we only have about 2 or 3 deaths a year but we average about 3000 bites. The snake bite kits work. 😂 That and we have easy access to antivenom - essentially all hospitals have it on hand. Interestingly the biggest producers of antivenom are Oz, India, Mexico and surprisingly Costa Rica! I often end up on my arse when we go hiking. Last time my pride took a serious hit and my big camera got covered in mud. 😂 The worst travel relate injury I've sustained was when I banged my shin on our bed frame in Paris once. Probably should've had stitches. And it got infected. 🤣 Most of the time my real travel injuries are stupid "they only happen to shane" injuries... stepping on a spiny sea urchin in Zanzibar which stung like the dickens and Michelle had to spend an hour or so with tweezers extracting the spines. Yep, that sort of thing happens surprisingly often. 😂 A most excellent video again Dara! PS For Aussies Lifeline is 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on-line.
