Hello, I mentioned in the video that Bridgewater Place was the last large scale building, as we all know thats not true! I don't know why I said that I think I was implying Cirrus Point is the largest building of such a big scale since Bridgewater Place (112m) as Altus was only 2 meters taller at 114m. Hope this makes better sense. Sorry everyone! 😅

Another good video. I've watched the rise of Cirrus Point from my office window. It really will be a spectacular addition to the top of town. Not sure if you're aware, but another core is now rising on Water Lane. This the 'Sky Gardens' tower, which will be 34 floors when complete. One for your next Leeds development tour, maybe....

Do people think the North is finally getting back to its glory days?Leeds and Manchester are both doing well. Wages are rising quite fast in the North too. The Tech industries are motoring all over the North. We are still hindered by London based prejudices and that doesn’t matter which main party is in power but considering the decades of neglect we have experienced, compared to the South, we are doing pretty well I think. I think there is room for optimism.
@reecyvidz17 күн бұрын
@paulwild3676 I wouldn't say so, NHS is shambles and buses could do with modernization and punctuality improvement. The cities are thriving though by the looks of it, which is great to see, but smaller places like Bradford are behind, very behind. Also Huddersfield, Halifax and other places are losing their high street spark, no one goes into town centre's anymore because there's nothing to buy, everything's online. Trains are good enough imo, the actual locomotives are pretty modern, sleek and fast, but could improve punctuality. Hopefully there is light and we could be going into another revolution. ❤️🙂
@paulwild367617 күн бұрын
@ Thank You for responding. The cities are booming but the towns in between them are struggling, as you say. Huddersfield was highlighted as a future boomtown due to it being less than an hour from Manchester airport.
@reecyvidz17 күн бұрын
@paulwild3676 Very true, when I was a kid in the 2000s, Huddersfield high street was a place to be, there was loads of shops and things going on, on the streets it was great! It's quite sad how it's gradually decreasing in shop facilities and street stalls etc. It would be fantastic to see our local towns getting their shine again, maybe not shops as they aren't making as much profit, but other things people can get out for a ride and do so they feel their trip was worthwhile? ❤
@Rob9955216 күн бұрын
I would say Leeds is thriving on many levels, but agree this is despite the poor support from government not because of it; we are achieving what we are mostly standing on our own two feet.
@paulwild367616 күн бұрын
@ We are standing on our own two feet. We have no choice, because since we stopped powering the economy with all the dirty jobs, we have been either patronised,or ignored. There is a tendency from London governments to think that we are like the South West, or East Anglia, with a small scattered population. I don’t think that they realise there are 9 million people on the M62 corridor between Leeds via Manchester to Liverpool. If Bradford was in the South East, it would be the second biggest place after London and yet it doesn’t have a proper through train service, to either Leeds or Manchester. It is beyond ridiculous.

Leeds cc is starting to look very grand with numerous clusters of tall buildings around its city centre, you have the group of tall buildings where this video had been shot, the buildings are all very compact and in a high area of the city so from a distance you see the half dozen or so talls which look fantastic, then down towards the south west of the city centre another cluster is arising that covers a good stretch which will look great. Plans are also in place for numerous other tall buildings to start soon. Once leeds tallest building is finished it will be among one of the best skylines in the uk, even though leeds is seeing many very tall new buildings its not always about the sheer height but how they actually look in design and location etc mancs has those awful grey mucky looking builds that all look the bloody same!

@@reecyvidz So am I. I live at the base of the Beetham Tower and have the nest of Deansgate Square towers near to me too. I like them very much. I have been waiting for other cities to follow suit. No one apart from Mancunians seems to realise the change. I moved into Manchester City centre in 2003 and the skyline is completely unrecognisable. I am largely in favour. I hope that the new development in Leeds is just the start. Beetham Tower in Manchester seemed to be a one-off at the time, but then it was copied.

@reecyvidz Look good or _BE_ good ? Frankly I'm not impressed. To me, a beautiful building is a tiny 13th century church or an ancient bridge in some hidden part of the Dales, where you can still see the marks made by the people who built it. Will this skyscraper still be around in 100 years, let alone 700 ? No, it's really nothing more than a temporary thing.

Always get people saying "ooh that's ugly, it's not exactly a 13th century monastery, it won't be here in 100 years blah blah blah. Well, they're not building ancient buildings anymore, surprisingly. It's 2024 and the world has changed, for the better in most things, but architecture is constantly shifting with the times. Nobody will build the old stuff now because it's not commercially viable so just enjoy what's left and stop moaning 😂
