a nicely done video- liked the interplay of beach and workshop - and the recoding of all the finds - there is something to be said for the intermittent joy of finding something good. Loved the shells! Nice surprise in that one

Shea, You and your brother make a great team. It's being able to search often, especially after major landfalls, rather than any specific item, that adds the suspense to your finds. Wood, crinoids, little things etc, are also interesting. Anything that paints a picture of 180 million years ago!!! The time span is boggling. Are any of the finds the actual material from those eras? Cheers, Rik Spector

I love seeing history found in fossils. You all must really love your calling. I say this as a semi-disabled, overweight, lazy, older American (the comment is specific to me, not all Americans, to be clear). I suffer from both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. The distance you hiked, and the need to semi-rappel down to the beach leads me to say this. Besides “wow!”, all I could think was how would you carry many fossils, especially larger fossils back to the car? I have never made it to any part of Europe (just Canada, Mexico, China, and Hong Kong [before my mobility declined to my present status]). I have to say the area where you search is beautiful, walk down, beach, sea, and especially the waterfall. Maybe if I can get my health issues under control, I might get a chance to visit your part of the world. It was fascinating to watch the cleaning and preparation of the fossils at the workshop. Such detailed work. Such beautiful results. Do you ever worry that you might chip away the wrong bit? I know you all have training and experience to locate and recognize nodules with potential. But, not having that training and experience, it amazes me how you find them. I watched one of your videos before this and found it fascinating to watch you all find and remove nodules from larger rocks and shale. Thank you for recording, posting, and bringing your captivating work to those of us who might never, otherwise, get to enjoy the thrill of finding wonderful history.

You are so lucky having such great places nearby to hunt for fossils. Northern Ireland, where I am, has pretty much nothing when it comes to finding fossils, and even a couple of places to look (listed online) were a wasted trip. I've discovered just a few partial bits of belemnite in chalk here, so small that you wouldn't even pick them up, so I find the stuff you get beyond belief 😔

Im thinking of nipping over from South Yorkshire to the North Yorkshire coast for a day out, I thought a bit of fossil hunting might be an interesting couple of hours. What is a good area for a complete newbie to search for fossils, with good parking and not far a walk to the beach?

whitby- runswick bay hits those things - you don't have to go that far though - there are sites in lincs and elsewhere with the same strata closer ( albeit without the regular erosion ofthe seacliffs )

When you find fossils stacked think on top of each other, or many in one location, is that due to one of the extinction events? Or die off events? I have always wondered how so many have died and became fossils in same layer so close or jumbled on top of each other.
