great shots of back country. Vogelsang h.s.c. is beautiful. Your hiking showed many varieties of scenery to take in and how to get the most of them. So impressed.

In late Aug, I hiked the portion of the trail featured here, but as part of an 8-day, 40 mile loop, from west of Merced Lake, up the Rafferty Creek trail back to Tuolumne Meadows. Great to see that you enjoyed the trail so much. I recognized the high pass and runoff south of Babcock Lake and that scenic overlook of Merced lake. I'll have to see if you posted a video describing your descent from the scenic overlook down to Merced Lake. Definitely a physical challenge climbing all those switchbacks in that one-mile stretch. Must've been hard work going down, too.

Nice. I'm going to add this to my bucket list. What was the bug conditions like in late June? I have found late August is the only time they are tolerable.

Great video! What time of the year were you there? And do you happen to know the GPS coordinate of you campsite overlooking Merced Lake? Thanks!
@PhotographyTVcom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! We were there in late June. The GPS coordinates for that camp site are shown in the video at 8:29 since I figured people may want them. However, since those coordinates were captured by my camera, I'm not sure how accurate they are. I just tried to zoom in on Google Maps to find that location, and I think the GPS coordinates are 37.744072, -119.387438. It was hard to see if that was the exact spot, but it will get you relatively close I believe. At least I hope so, ha.

Thank you so much! Will probably try to get there this August.

I am so glad that I stumbled upon your channel! I love photography, although I don't get enough chances to do it... How do you get those colors to pop so much! The RED on the REI backpack is just about punching you in the face, I've never seen something so red. I'm going to be heading to Olympic national park next year with my wife, and I'm besides myself for the photographic options, especially after watching your video on the park.

Thanks Steve! The key to getting the colors to pop is all about shooting Raw and editing. I use Adobe Lightroom. I try not to push it too far, but you can do a lot with Lightroom to improve the images. (I'll make you a video on that photo to show you how it was edited.) As for Olympic National Park, you are going to have a blast. We only spent 3 days there, and it was the most incredible photography destination. By driving around the park, you can go from mountains, to lakes, to waterfalls, to beaches, to rainforests, and more. The diversity of things to see is absolutely amazing. Did you see all of our videos from there? Here's the link in case you missed any. photographytv.com/travel-photography/# Have a great trip, and please send me some of your photos when you get back. Thanks!

whatre the permits required to hike this area thanks
@mattpenrod37044 ай бұрын
I'm heading out via this route starting tomorrow. It's likely that you have to get lucky through the lottery system because this hike is extremely popular. Wilderness Permit is Rafferty Creek -> Vogelsang and it comes with an automatic option of Half Dome permits for an additional $10/pp
