The photos with the light leaks were by far my favorite! The fact that those effects can only happen on film and only by chance makes them special to my eyes. On top of that they now have a bit of an extra story. Of course I wouldn't want that happening all the time but definitely the best way for a mistake to turn out!

Nice trip! Film’s the only format that makes me feel like it’s Christmas morning every time I get a roll back (but sometimes you get coal when your images are messed up 😂)

I have shot with so many different cameras over the years and you just never know what to expect. I shot with my 90 year old Kodak Anniversary Box Camera this fall and finally processed the film this week. Somehow the last inch of the film decide to fold itself over when it came on the take-up spool. These videos are fun and I enjoy your images and the story that goes with them!

I've had a great experience sending my M3 to Youxin Ye. It honestly wasn't that expensive and he turned it around in about a month. I don't know if that's helpful to tell you at all, but there you go. My recommendation on a repairman, for what it's worth.

If you are nearing 36exp on your frame counter or have a mental note of how many frames youve shot, advance the film gently for the last shots, or discard a frame and wind back early to prevent ripping the roll if there is something whack with the camera ☺️

A manual wind 35mm camera, whether the most expensive Leica or the most pedestrian, old Canon or Konica, cannot rip the film from its spool in the supply cartridge. That takes careless and abusive misuse of the camera by its user.

Just seeing this. Hope you have sent your M6 in for a CLA. Sounds like it needs it having so many issues advancing and winding film and with the shutter.
@Fjalll3 жыл бұрын
Shutter is fading. The low shutter curtain tensions and speeds are sensitive to needing proper maintenance. It can't power through congealed lube. In cold weather the lube stiffens and doesn't travel. Time for CLA!

I have a little difference experience. I brought my Leica M6 with me on a roadtrip to Oregon. My Leica started to act up when I am at Mount Hood. It is kinda snowing there and my lightmeter reading is totally screwed up. All lightmeter reading are overexposed for 3-4 stops and I quickly realize something is not right. The cold temperature might be the hitting the battery. Luckily I have my digital camera with me to use as reference.

A great journey. I always like images on 35mm with people in them, and really like the images of the journey and the people you shared the time with. It almost feels sometimes that the fine art landscape (no people/hand of man) is not the sweet spot of 35mm, but it's amazing that you made the trip and captured your experiences (and the landscape). Great video.

Congratulations on all the stellar work - all looked great to me (who cares?). I am concerned about your M6 - it should exhibit consistent performance regardless of conditions. Is there any chance your mid-roll troubles were from the film? Cheers from Canada.

In my M3, I have had the film sprockets slip from the takeup spool, so I wasn't advancing the film at all the entire roll. Just exposed the first frame 36 times. I've also somehow managed to load a roll of film backwards into my M3. I've also shot 8 consecutive frames on my RB67 whilst forgetting to remove the darkslide (I now have a note taped to the back of it that reads: Take out the darkslide dummy). Try them apples, elitist film shooters.

I started this, my first view of this channel, because I'm a sucker for anything shot in Yosemete. After an initial excess of irrelevant B-roll in the dark, I stayed on to see what looked like three hipsters would do with very expensive cameras and lenses. What a found was a string of snapshots which barely constitute vacation pictures, and a lot of images damaged by camera failure. Finally, an editorial comment by the head user to the effect that he lived with his defective equipment because it was too expensive for him to get it fixed, and he apparently doesn't believe in regular, preventive maintenance. Although the user disclaims any interest in any comment critical of his practices or photography, I'll inflict this. Sell the Leica before you totally wreck it, and buy a Yashica T-class point-n-shoot, which will take the quality of photos you seek out with no trouble. It will give you a much higher success ratio, although you may have to give up your seat at the cool kids' table with your pals. As to your aversion to Leica maintenance costs, you have to know that there is a price list for Leica owners and a normal list for everyone else. Leica owners pay double because they have demonstrated that they see no relationship between cost and benefit.
