Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[a] is a 1995 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). To reunite baby Mario with his brother Luigi, who has been kidnapped by Kamek, the player controls Yoshi, a friendly dinosaur, through 48 levels while carrying Baby Mario. As a Super Mario series platformer, Yoshi runs and jumps to reach the end of the level while solving puzzles and collecting items. In a style new to the series, the game has a hand-drawn aesthetic and is the first to have Yoshi as its main character. The game introduces his signature abilities to flutter jump and produce eggs from swallowed enemies.
The game has a unique visual style, which heavily contrasts with the pre-rendered visuals of contemporary games popularized by Donkey Kong Country. After four years of development, Yoshi's Island was released in Japan in August 1995, and worldwide two months later. Some of its special effects were powered by a new Super FX2 microchip. The game was ported to the Game Boy Advance with few changes in 2002. This version was rereleased for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 and the Wii U Virtual Console in 2014. The original version was also released for the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017 and Nintendo Switch Online in 2019.
Yoshi's Island received acclaim and sold over four million copies. Reviewers praised the art, sound, level design, and gameplay, and posited Yoshi's Island as a masterpiece and one of the greatest video games of all time. The game brought newfound renown to both Yoshi as a character and Shigeru Miyamoto's artistic and directorial career. The distinct art style and Yoshi's signature characteristics established the Yoshi series of spin-offs and sequels.

Music is more Compressed in GBA and I like the sound yoshi makes when flying in the snes but I also like the sound in gba one too but snes Music better tho but gba Music almost as good I grew up with snes one and I like it but gba is about as good too I think

The SNES and DS version are actually different games, is just they use same colorful style of the original game. Same thing for the 3DS version. The only port to the original SNES version is for the GBA.

Cool video but 2 mistakes: 1. Yoshi's Island DS is a sequel 2. Yoshi's New Island is the third game so they're not ports of Yoshi's island, even if Yoshi's island DS has about the same levels as from the first game

The first game’s soundtrack is unmatched. I can’t put into words just how beautiful it is. The game’s artstyle is also so much better. I know a lot of people prefer the modern Yoshi noises from the GBA game but I honestly like the almost machine-like noises Yoshi makes in the original (although this only applies to this game. Otherwise, I prefer his other noises.)

They all have their uniqueness. The SNES version has a bigger screen ratio so you see more of the map when playing. The gba version is the most iconic one with cutest yoshi noise. The DS version has the most creative boss fights thanks to the duo screen controls. The 3ds version...😂idk

The SNES and GBA versions look almost identical with just very minor differences. Very nice art style. The DS version is a different game, and it has a really nice art style just like the original. The 3DS one is a different game too, it looks good In its own way but I do think it's the ugliest of the 4.

snes is much better because of the 16-bit nostalgia, gba is good, but suffers from framerate when playing and very light colors, ds is ok, despite the problems, ds play is very good, but 3ds it's horrible, bad controls, heavy yoshi, the bosses are ridiculously easy and so on.

@@zachfaison7334 The reason the gba version has a brighter pallete is due to the game coming before the gba sp was released which had a backlight, the majority of older games before the sp and after(for people who still had the og gba) have brighter pallete so you could see the games in the original gba, unless you mod it with an afterburner your only choice was to play with direct light or upgrade to the sp model.

Agree with you there i’m not a big fan of the brighter GBA style graphics. It makes the graphics look too raw and jagged. Also the 3DS version looks like a soft modelled N64 game. Snes and DS versions look more smooth and finished.

I don't agree. Ds version has the "nicest graphics" but it has boring musics, the original was AMAZING! Ds was... mehh.. This is very important, the yoshi' island ds's musics don't have magic, and the game lost its magic too :/

SNES= pretty decent graphics and i like the music ( Pretty Good ) GBA= the bright filter really makes the graphics stand out and the music is very enjoyable to listen ( The Best ) NDS= the calm music doesn't really stand out that much, but its very calm and enjoyable and grapchics are decent ( Decent ) 3DS= The models are really bad... REALLY... And also the map artwork lacks any effort and its really bland which really makes it really un-enjoyable to play and the music is good but does not really match while playing the game which really does not make it stand out all and the only good thing about this game is only the cutscene's. ( the worst )
