Yoshimitsu is OP in Tekken 8

Yoshimitsu is really strong in Tekken 8 thanks to his OP combos that you can get after f,f+2,2 just frame f+1+2 follow up. He is also very versatile since he has amazing anti-pressure tools like his Flash and Evade to deal with Heat. But he also has been buffed that he can be the one engaging with plus frames thanks to 3,1 string, wr+2 and Dragonfly stance.
I will make a breakdown of the character to better explain everything in detail but for now I hope you enjoy these highlights I got on my road to Kishin rank!

HUGE TIP TO YOSHIS ON CONTROLLER. Hitting a just frame is extremely hard for us because of the need to press the 2 input twice in a row almost instantly and our buttons must press deep. So to bypass this, we do a quick slide motion. So instead of FF2,2jf. You should do FF212. That way you can quickly do another input so the game doesn’t read it as you just holding down the 2 button.

I was a huge Tekken fan when I was 4-6 and played a ton of T4 and T5, so I absolutely love watching you play, but I wouldnt play online myself. Im not that good and cant learn as good as in RL. I am happy that you upload T as well!

I remember when I was a kid in like 98-05 I’d be in this restaurant called zestos all day every day cause my grandma worked there n I’d have to go with her but they had a tekken machine in there and I’d hustle people for quarters playing tekken. And the only character I’d use was yoshi. And I was nasty with it too. Learned every move I could and seeing this now I wanna get back into it but the new lingo is insane. Like frames? Plus? The numbers n shit… I feel so invested yet lost. Gotta learn the lingo and then see what I can transfer

Of all the games in the franchise, I always used Paul and Yoshimitsu. If I try to play with any other character besides these two, it's just defeat after defeat.😂

Nobody takes Yoshi seriously so he's completely gone under the radar, but I think he's a sleeper top tier character. Even with this combo loop aside his flash is so strong in this game, especially in heat. People said flash was nerfed, but the hitbox in heat or NSS is ridiculous. It completely breaks the game, punishing Yoshi is so scary. UB1+2 is also an insane move with like zero downsides.

Yeah flash is great especially now when everyone has more plus frames and so they are more likely to keep pressing. ub12 is good yea but liniar so that needs to keep in mind... however YOOOOOO

I’d say yoshi is OP for advanced players, not casual or newer players. I’m a fairly novice player and it’s taken me a while to really learn how to abuse the character’s strengths, whereas it only takes me a relatively small amount of time to abuse other characters’ strengths.

When you say that the opponent has to stay on the ground, do you mean they can roll to get up and be safe? I can't get the f1+2f to relaunch if opponent is set to "Wake up: Side Roll (left)". I can get the move to connect with the right timing, but they just flap around while I'm Heat Dashing towards them. Not the kind of Tailspin launch you show on the video. Love this kind of content! And love your style of Yoshi. Can't wait for more Yoshi content. YOOOOOO

Sorry yea I should have worded it better, the f1+2 always hits yes with the right timing, if they stay on the ground or delay getting up with a sideroll it will just hit ground hit them, but anything else like getting up / get up kicks are going to straight up launch them

So i can do this reliably, but if they roll to the side, or roll backwards it doesnt re launch them into another combo, but you can get oki. you said if they do anything besides lay on the ground they get re launched. Is it me thats misunderstanding or does it not work on everything besides laying on the ground? great vid btw, yoshi mains rise up :)

You are right it doesnt relaunch in those either, I should have worded it better but wanted to keep it shorter for better pacing. If they try to get up or do get up kicks then they get launched but ye the rolls or otherwise delaying the get up will just result on them getting the grounded hit instead

He has a tricky moveset, hits hard, has massive range on his linear and homing attacks, unparriable launching low, constant threat of FLASH, excellent Oki, his hop knee and df+2 both evade highs... Yeah, Yoshimitsu players are eating very good in T8.

What is the notation of the combo described at the start of the video? After launch you ff?And then flash and after that d2,2 then df1,2,1 then ff flash again? That second flash looks kinda different to me then the one in the beginning of the combo.. please explain?

For me Yoshimitsu is not OP in Tekken 8. I've been playing him forever, he's just good, people aren't used to seeing him good because this character has never been respected by Namco for years. At least now players will take him seriously! The real OP characters are Dragunov, Feng, Asucena...

Yoshimitsu is stronger than he was compared to tekken 7 but I would be careful saying that he is OP. He still requires conditioning and the right set ups but against mashers then yes, he is OP lol.

balanced =/= busted Tekken Yoshi always had a poor competitive history until he gets SC4-style buffs in T7 and finally viable in T8, I just hope he doesn't get the S1 Dragonov treatment of becoming irrelevant a season later again.

That's not yikes. Since this is a rocket league channel, most of his viewers obviously won't click on a Tekken video. If I were him, I would make a JZR - Tekken channel, drop a few Tekken video's on his main, entice people to go check out his Tekken channel by dropping the juicy content on there, where he really will go in-depth. Over time, people will subscribe and the rest of the work will be done by the KZbin algorithm since there's probably plenty of room for Tekken 8 Yoshimitsu content. That way he could now do Tekken & RL videos without problems.
