We knew Ohtani would be Ohtani, so I was honestly more hyped to see what this guy would do in Dodger blue, and he did not disappoint. It may have been a short outing, but it was filled with greatness. I'm excited to see more of that from him. On a side note, I loved watching him and Ohtani interact in the dugout. I still can't believe that they are both Dodgers, but now that I've seen them together in the dugout, it's finally settling in. I can't wait for the start of the season. 行けドジャース!

@@ihatehersit’s not a determent but it’s not usual to see in mlb or else he wouldn’t have had to play 7 years in Japan to prove he can play in mlb. So I think what he means is mlb might be recruiting more earlier in Japan now. Obviously there has been Japanese legends in the past but even ichiro had to play a few years in Japan to get to mlb.

Rangers fan, so I was watching yesterday. What got me was that the Dodger's announcers acted like he was new to pitching or new to baseball. One of the announcers made a huge deal because he checked out the batting reports on the next batters he would be facing. The man is an experienced pitcher; of course he would educate himself about the batters.

@71 Agree. However, the timing of WBC is just too bad. Considering MLB season is long and has way too many games, most MLB players are exhausted just to play the regular season. They can't activate their bodies too early otherwise they have higher chance to injure themselves during the season. I prefer MLB reduces 162 to 140-150 games a season, so players have more time to recover and play international games...

It is called the World Series because at the time of it's creation, the United States had the best major league baseball teams and talent in the world so that is part of the reason. Their championship was also the most popular baseball event in the world at the time as well. The name was kept.

@@ryu-ken what? Not even close. Sure they both have nasty stuff but prime Lincecum had a 40 grade on the 20/80 scale in terms of command. He would walk almost 100 batters a year. Yamamoto has a perfect grade of 80. This is why he is farrrr more comparable to Pedro than Lincecum

Japanese pitchers always have great mechanics but I'm surprised he has 0 leg kick in his windup. Everything is a slide step. He's getting downhill though with a powerful knee block, so it's unique but clearly it works for him.

Ranger fan here! Honestly even fresh off a World Series win, I was nervous to see what this guy would do to my team. Looks like I was right to worry haha. Looking forward to see him and Ohtani play more this year!
