I'm not quite sure if this explanation will suffice, but something about the overcast sky with the chromatically descending bass at 0:27 juxtaposed with the spots of sunshine and the more playful (while still throwing in some diminished/half-diminished chords to keep things from being too bright) 0:34--1:00 segment results in such a beautifully bittersweet song to me. Not to mention the instrumentation at hand too, but the whole thing is endearing and easily one of my favorite iterations of this classic Mario theme

I was gonna say this was ripping off mario, but then I realized... I got my car rolling off the roof! I got the driver's seat replaced with the toilet seat and the engine replaced with the oven. The steering wheel don't even turn the wheels, it opens the trunk and what's in the trunk is my four car tires and literally everything you can find at Walmart. When you think about it how the heck am I even rolling on the roof? I should have fallen through the house by now!
