Yothu Yindi ARIA's HALL OF FAME 2012

Legendary musicians, Yothu Yindi inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. The honour comes two decades after the release of the track Treaty that catapulted them to international stardom.
"As musicians, recognition from our peers is important to us," Yothu Yindi frontman Mandawuy Yunupingu said.
"As Aboriginal Australians, recognition from our Constitution is even more important." The band used the ARIAs to wear the new logo for the movement to recognise the First Australians.
HEALING STONE: THE BEST OF YOTHU YINDI is a brand new compilation album released to honour their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. The album will also include a DVD containing many of the band's music videos, plus their celebrated documentary, 'Tribal Voice'. 'Healing Stone' is also the title track of the album and is the first new song recorded and released by Yothu Yindi in 12 years.

I had the privilege of seeing Yothu Yindi at the velodrome in Alice Springs in 1993. It is a memory I have always cherished.

The first time I saw Yothu Yindi in concert was in 1991. It was in Olympia, Washington, Washington state USA. I had been listening to their music for a couple years at that point, and I loved their music. An awesome blend of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal music. I was saddened to hear recently about the passing of frontman, Mandawuy Yunupingu.

I am absolutely devastated on the loss of M.Yunupingu ( trying to observe correct protocols) His passing is v hard Loved & respected him since 1991. This man was a hero,a teacher, a father, a cultural leader, a band member, a PEACE maker YOTHU YINDI music & message will live on forever & his Legacy will live on.. I love this man his passion his kindness his wanting to join Yolungu & Balanda as one wanting peace,Harmony & Understanding I hope your Now at peace free from pain with your ancestors
