I saw your Yoto in your nursery video something like a year ago. I emailed you asking what it was and you never responded. So I googled related terms and found it. I then gave birth and my now-4-month-old has listened to it since birth almost 24/7. I have dozens of cards and rotate between then. Honestly, it's 50% for me to enjoy and 50% for my baby (I mostly bought cards for age 5+, not the easier cards). My baby is babbling a lot since month 3 and I think it's helping him learn language faster. Yoto also had two 20% sales in the past month for the cards, so there are opportunities to get more at a discount (and the monthly club gets you cards worth $20 USD+ for only $10 USD).

We’re handing our Tonie down to baby sis and the big boys (7 and 5) are going to get a Yoto mini each for Xmas. Sooooo excited! The cooking and language cards!! The travel case etc. Much better than the Tonie for big ones I reckon.

I have recently invested in a Yoto player and I’m excited. But I was also interested in the chameleon pen. What are your thoughts on both? Would one be sufficient or what is used more? Love all the videos. Thanks

Chameleon pen looks like it uses the whole word approach. But phonics is best practice for regular learners and those with learning difficulties like dyslexia. Reading doesn't equal understanding words. I never learnt phonics as child because in the 90's you just had to memorise every single word. These days actually teaching English language rules through phonics makes so much more sense. Just my two cents. I don't want to poo poo a product, because it could be a lot of fun to listen along to, but it looks like a teaching device.

What is the minimum age you would suggest for the mini??? I have a will be 18 month old with an upcoming trip to Hawaii the 11 hour travel day to get there I’m worries about but wondering if this would be helpful for her??

their website says it's recommended for 3-12 years old. you can also use it for 6 months to 2 year old kids.

As far as the radio feature goes, are you able to turn off that feature in the settings?

Yes. Using the app you choose what happens when you click the right dial. Yoto radio (child friendly songs and no ads) Yo-yo daily (children’s podcast) Night time radio (calm, classical music - no vocals) Or do nothing

Should also say you can also choose what it does in the day as apposed to the night also which is fab. So you can have it play the radio in the day but do nothing at night. Genius!

Can the Yoto’s be programmed via the app to stop playing at the end of whatever chapter you have playing?

No, you insert the card to play and remove the card to stop playing. If you’re playing a card from the app (instead of physically having the card) you can manually stop it but can’t program it to stop
