My family was that way, too. But they didn't judge me. I loved it, but never played or learned. Bid whist, pity pat and spades! They played thrm all. I would make them a big pot of my slamming chilli... and then sit back and read my book while the music R&B Philly had us all rocking. I LOVED my childhood too!

As a kid I played every sport in high school and excelled in all especially basketball and track and field events. So while doing all that to be at the top in all those things didn't leave time for cards or dominoes . I haven't ever been incarcerated or had my freedom taken and couldn't go outside. But I'm pulled over by cop's weekly for looking suspicious so I have no doubt about who I am or what I am to white America . Plus board games have never drawn my attention, and I don't watch sports on TV. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person like that 🤔 but then again I'm different, aren't we all??? White people think we're all the same.

I don't care how dark your complexion or how often the police pull you over. If you can't play spades, I'mma need to see your black card before we let you in the cookout. And, if you didn't learn to play by the age of 10, it's really too late naw. It takes years, and years, and years of practice to master the art of spades. It takes about 2 years alone to master the smack talk that is required to throw your opponent off. It takes another 3-4 years to learn how to slap the card on the table and make it spin after it lands, all without crinkling the card. So there is no way she can learn the game in 4 months.
