I think what upset me the most was the fact he knew he was going to die in a way. If you notice, I don’t see ppl talk about this a lot, but when he got the phone call after…during the Light scene, he says “we’re going to be separated soon” to light, or something hinting that he’ll be leaving in a way. And that leaving just meant his death. I loved L, and I love him!! It’s classic, but he’s such a well written character, I just wish I could tell him how amazing he is!! He’s remarkable!! Truly one of the best!!

This is a really cool pairing of a song and character/scene! I hadn’t heard of 505 before this so I’m so glad I found this! If it’s taken to represent Lawlight (which it probably does) it draws out the lyrics of an abusive relationship, in particular the “I’d probably still adore you with your hands around my neck” since their whole dynamic is predicated on the game of cat and mouse, and “the knife twists at the thought that I should fall short of the mark” since L technically pulls the trigger on himself by trying to test the 13-day rule. In other words, he chose to let things go their course knowing doing so would probably kill him since he still knew Light was guilty and had won. The abrupt rise in intensity of the music itself also reminds me of Kodoku/Solitude from the OST, which has always held a special association with L’s death in my mind. I don’t remember what scenes it was played in exactly but it perfectly captures L’s silent frustration at his failure. So yeah thanks for making this.

Death Note was the first anime I‘ve watched. I had it done in 2 days. (spoiler warning ig) I didn‘t cry until the last episode when Light just ran away into other buildings and then bled out and died. It was kinda sad. Light wanted to make the world a better place by killing criminals, but he then also killed every person that was stood in his way. I also feel kind of bad for Misa. Misa was a bit annoying sometimes, but Light just used her.

Idk why I thought of this but here scenario time You are out on the rooftop with L. The song starts and you and him are standing next to each other. He’s looking at the ground below him. Your feelings are mixing together to form something new, just like paint mixing together to form that certain brown that always disappoints you. The song gives you an empty feeling, the need and hunger for something unknown. Tears start to form in your eyes. You quickly wipe them away and hope that L didn’t notice. “What’s wrong?” He asks, clearly confused. “o-oh I just had something in my eyes” you respond. “Oh…alright…” he then looks at the buildings around you. Your feelings are twisting and turning, like an empty ship on harsh waters. You burst into tears once the chorus starts. He turns to you and hugs you. He holds you close and you scrunch his shirt into your hands. “I’m so sorry…” you say between tears. “Shhh” he quickly pulls you closer and you can feel he’s trying his best to calm you down. You stay there enjoying the contact and body heat. You hear that the song is starting to end. He releases you from his grasp and you look into his eyes. “Thank you” you say as you close your eyes and give him one of your best smiles. You soon open your eyes and realize that you aren’t on the rooftop anymore, and once again you are in your bedroom while the midnight rain is pounding on your bedroom window.
