I kid you not, this song changed my life. As a kid, it sparked my epiphany that humans were animals and not some separate entity. This lead me to study wildlife biology. I am now working on my statement of purpose for graduate school and you better believe I'm putting this down as an early motivator!

I felt the same way about it. It made me realize we are a small and equal part of the larger animal kingdom. The human superiority aspect of the song went right over my head, thankfully! I couldn't remember and hummed my way through the lyrics about animals not being able to think, reason, or read.
A lot of this footage is from the "All the Cats Join In" segment of _Make Mine Music_ and the _Silly Symphony_ cartoon "Farmyard Symphony". The recording of the song is from a Disneyland record.

Idk why, but listening to the lyrics "who can read," made me think of a classmate in 3rd grade who didn't know how to read because her parents probably never helped her with homework. It got a lot more difficult in her case when she suddenly had to transfer somewhere else in the middle of the school year.😞

I would argue that nonhuman animals, perhaps, can think, at least to a certain degree. In my animal rights philosophy, they are as important as human animals.
