You are Chantal | 40 Hour Famine 2014

At just 12 years of age, Chantal doesn't have time to be a child. While her friends are at school, she must stay home to help her mother.
"I imagine them playing ... then doing social studies," Chantal says wistfully. She left school in grade four; social studies was her favourite subject.
Instead Chantal's days involve fetching water and firewood, and looking after her younger siblings. "When there is food I cook," she adds.
But often there is no food. On a good day the family has one meal. Twice a week they eat nothing at all.
Hunger robs Chantal of her childhood and dreams for the future. She plays in the little spare time she has left. "I pretend to be a kid again," she says.
