Totally agree with your main point. The biggest obstacle for players in normal trials/arenas is the fear of the unknown and the fear of being a burden. However, the take that 'arenas have almost no mechanics' is a spicy one:) Perhaps what you meant was, 'You can ignore all mechanics on normal difficulty, just like in normal dungeons.

You're one of the most positive MMORPG creators out there, and I'm so glad this popped up in my feed. More people need to hear this message. In so many games, all we hear about is the toxicity in group content, which leads to even more people avoiding it-just making things worse. If we all chose to participate and treat each other with kindness, our virtual worlds would be much better places. By the way, I was eating spinach while watching-hope that gets the Doc's approval!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad I can share a little positivity with the communities that I enjoy being part of so much! Also, since spinach is definitely one of my favorite vegetables, that is most definitely Doc approved! Have a wonderful day!

You realize that when games have this problem, it's not the community's fault, but the game itself. If Zenimax, or any studio that made games with similar "git gud" gated content, cared, then they would find ways to make harder content more accessible or more rewarding for vet players to Sherpa the more greener players. When you have a game that has such a stilted PVP where a couple players on crack can dominate battlegrounds just because of their gear regardless of other players skill and coordination, you have a game that caters to elitism. Just look at The Rift on a daily basis.

I kinda immediately joined vet trials once I hit cp200 or so. I was far from ready, did about 40k dps on a nightblade, got a lot of shit from everyone. However that was also the best way to learn how to play them. It forced me to do more research in builds and strategies. Now, Im doing 100k+ dps on the dummy and I have enough cleave damage with my arc to add something to the team. Going flat on my face many times accelerated my development in this game. Im still considered a relatively low level player in the end game community. But Im parsing higher and playing better them most players sub cp1000. Some tips nobody tells you: Cleave is key! Dont bring your heavy attack sorc in a trial! Provide synergies for the team! Everyone is playing together, the better your team mates are doing, the better you are doing. And the one that is maybe most important: for the love of god, stack with your team!!! The best teams are moving as one, this will literally save your healer a couple of years on his/her life expectancy. And everyone will be doing more damage.

nice vid - well constructed and presented! With regard to vet trials its not about how good you are sadly, its about if vet trial group leaders accept you or not, and if you don't have an achievement then 99% of the time its a no go. Most vet trial groups are elitist, inflexible, intolerant, and toxic af, so the only option for the vast majority is to try to organise through regular guilds, or join a chilled trial 'training' guild, which can be extremely time consuming and frustrating or not possible. This sums up the snobbery around vet trials perfectly, which someone detailed below: "Now, Im doing 100k+ dps on the dummy and I have enough damage to add something to the team.... Im still considered a relatively low level player in the end game community".
@n00bfishieАй бұрын
Good video. Let me add that it’s even easier to get started on trials on console since nobody has add-ons and nobody can see what your individual DPS is. I’m part of two trials guilds that don’t require parsing or DPS minimums. They also offer regular “exposure” runs to teach new players the mechanics.
@BaiLaniАй бұрын
@@n00bfishie there is no addon that allows to see dps of other players without them having the same addon configured to share that data. People with addons can see their own dps and what percentage of the total damage they deal. So if you run a dungeon as a DD and see that your 30k dps is 90% of total damage, you can deduce that your colleague is not very impactful. But in a big group you can’t so easily pinpoint a person who is slacking:)

I remember the first time I played this game. Started with Nightblade. I'd use my lunge attack, go invisible, circle around to flank, surprise attack, go invisible again, charge heavy attack, rinse and repeat. Was it slow? Yes. Was it fun? Hell, yes! I would always wind up playing a stealth build in Skyrim, but that just doesn't fly in an MMO after the starter zone. I miss those days sometimes.

i'm CP 175, and just as i've hit CP 160, i've been farming dungeon sets and currently have 2 5 sets (Leviathan & Toothrow) and a monster helmet (Slimecraw) so you can see i'm a dps who's more focused on criticals. i've done A LOT of research on builds , mechanics and i've really studied the game A LOT before i even started playing, and I can say that i'm good in the game , i know pretty much all of the mechanics & basics , practiced my rotation and all and i'm fairly interested in trials for sets to improve my build , so i've been thinking once i've hit CP 160 obviously because of the gear cap , then i'll be able to start doing trials , but the biggest obstacle for me was and still is tbh , the fact that it's a somewhat serious group content and so people won't really take you in even for normal, can't find groups that are doing trials i'm intrested in doing. i've been thinking about joining a guild as i've had the feeling that would make things more "straightforward" as to jumping in trials for the first time , but the amount of guilds out there , and to know which one is really beginner oriented (even though i don't see myself as a beginner) has been a little crippling in the search.

Great video but it still doesn't solve the top 3 issues for me with raiding/doing trials. 1 I have no need or interest in any of the item sets. 2 You can buy the style motifs from guilds at faster pace than doing raids ever would give them. 3 The Mounts, Skins, Titles interest me even less than the item sets do. (also while I can't confirm this, some people apparently say that if you use lot of potions in Trials, you actually lose more money than you would make doing the Trial, but that could be just nightblade exclusive issue since they like to spam catalyst)

I've been playing on and off for the past few years. CP near 1k. Still 25ish days left to complete mount skills on my main. Haven't even scratched the surface on many DLC zones simply because there's way too much daily grinding to do and I like playing every class plus I'm a bit of a psychopath for daily writs and researching on every character. I've only recently did my first trial through group finder just to complete my Dremora Skulls achievement. After it was finished and people were asking for specific items, I said it was my first trial and would take any extras others have already collected and received absolutely dick. Not even motivated in the slightest to do another one. I'm happily finally finishing Psijic Order and painfully not looking forward to doing it again 6 more fucking times because I refuse to pay money to get the maxed out skill line on my alts. Next I'm finally going to continue Dark Brotherhood for the next time that dreaded Black Sacrament daily endeavor arrives. Clockwork City seems interesting and I should probably acquire more companions than just Sharp now that he's max leveled. As for mounts and titles, yeah, I too couldn't care much because the ones I got from the Necrom CE bundle and titles from normal play have given me enough to have things that fit each of my characters. There's a couple unlockable mounts I'm a bit interested in, but really what I want right now is the Arena weapons and at least one mythic because I find it very baffling that a guy I met that's only been playing for a couple months is wiping the floor with bosses faster than I can and he didn't even know where to get any of the ingredients to make Psijic Ambrosia let alone how valuable fishing is in the game.

I would say if you have access to a trial dummy, it would definitely be worth it to test out your dps! While there isn't really a dps requirement for normal, most vet trial groups will ask that you parse a certain amount. That being said though, from what you described to me, I think you should at least try one of the Craglorn trials! See if you or someone in your group can run Dungeon logs. This will be a great way to form a baseline and compare yourself to other dps!

If you´re on pc get the addon combat metrix or any other addon that shows your dps. For starters i would look at the percentage of group dps and not necessarily the total amount. Just to make sure your doing fine and don´t get "carried" all the time. If you want to be more serious: y a few parses on the trial dummy and making sure that you memorized the more optimal class rotation never hurts.

If the motherfucker can solo a World Boss (we aren't typing on a shit console system, we can use English here!) then he's absolutely ready for a normal trial. I recently tried the one in this video and basically sleepwalked through it besides the final two bosses. Also, you could, you know, be a healer or something. Not that hard to setup a decent Templar or Warden build to focus and pure healing. Tanking can go fuck itself though.

The biggest hurdle for vet trials are other players, min-maxers gatekeeping content telling new/returning players "you need to do 150k dps" when the bare minimum is 35k - 40k for a smooth clear. If you know mechanics then great but If not, spending 5 minutes to explain isn't going to hurt me.
