Oh my gosh.. my mom used to sing it to me.. but she only knew the first verse.. so did I (she taught me) she had dimentia and Alzheimer's.(she lived in my home with me. I took care of her.).. but still sang that song to me 7 year's ago she had to say goodbye in my arms.. my heart went with her.. how ironic because the 2nd verse discribes me to a "T". So very thankful that I had her.. my heart breaks a little each day cause I miss her so.. I know she's waiting for me.. she was my best friend. Hold your mom close if you have her.. she's the only one you'll ever have.. and it's like loosing everything when she has to go.. you never get over it.

My tears are flowing reading these lyrics. My mom sang these to me when I was a little girl. She sung them to me to wake me up in the morning and also when she tucked me into bed each night. I lost her to cancer when I was in my 20s. I am now the age she was when she died. I still miss her as much as I did the day she died. My dad would be 80 years old today! He passed when I was 7 and for a long time I never felt sad, I knew he was in my heart but as I got older I got told to be sad and that he was gone! This makes me cry so much. It is so accurate at my opinion I lost my grandpa, and I saw him in my dream, I ran at him as fast as I could and I hugged him tight. I told him I lvoed him and I heard him say 'I love you too my little girl' I also lost my grandma. When I saw her in my dream, I hugged her tight too. I told her I could not live without her, and it is still makes me sad. She gave me her cross (I am a christian) and put it at my neck. When I woke up I asked my mom if my grandma had a cross. I can't listen to this without tearing up (who am I lying to, I'm ugly crying right now) and I don't care how silly this sounds but I sometimes sang that song to my dog, I love him with all my heart and he helped me through the hardest times in my life. I'm not sure if I'd be here to write this if it wasn't for him, so he really was the sun in my life that kept everything together. He passed away in april after 12 years and the darkness he left behind will probably forever cast a dark shadow, but the light he brought to my life will always shine bright. My mom and I sang this to each other when I was just a little girl. She passed away at 52 years old of a very aggressive lung cancer.. I thought about this song every single day when this whole nightmare began. About a week before she passed, they had her on some pretty heavy medications that made her be out of it most of the time or sleep a lot. She sang this entire song out loud in her sleep. I’ll always cherish it, and I take comfort in always being her sunshine. 🌞

She used to sing in little bars and pubs as a teen but never got a start up opportunity! Her name is Tammy Hutchins and I would love to see her name in the credits! I remember when we celebrated my grandma's 98th birthday and after cake she pulled me aside and said "The best people will die, my dear," and a few days later I realized she went to the doctor and figured out she was going to die. This was her favorite song...it used to mean nothing to me, but now it means something. My only comfort is knowing she'll be waiting at the gates of heaven with her arms wide open for me. Son: "Why do the best people have to die?" Mother: "When you go to a garden, which flowers do you pick?" Son: "The beautiful ones."
