I grew up with that song. It still comes to me, so I was immediately drawn into this story. She has landed in the best place after working through her pain. "Love others as you love yourself." How can one love others if you don't love yourself? Love is, in a sense, a practice, a set of actions.Love yourself and kindness (or compassion) toward others, especially your children. I also grew up with the “Sunshine” song. My mother once had my two younger sisters and I perform it on stage when I was about 11 or 12. I haven’t sung it for a long time and that’s a shame because it’s so uplifting. I will sing it today and every day until I die now, thanks to this inspiring young lady above and the capturing of her beautiful soul. I’ll be 75 on Halloween! I had recently spoken to my mom and she shared how she is regretful she wasn't as supportive financially to her mom befire her mother passed away. i know this is besides the point but when she shared this i think what she is sharing is that she is also wounded and unable to give what motherhood is for right for me, she also admitted that she has favoritism. It only took about 32 years to hear her about this. Im trying to figure out now how i can be ok and self parent myself so that inner child can be free again. That conversation with my mom despite of that nature, has already broken the glass of despair and the unknown for why we had to go through some difficulty at a very young age.

Always I could do nothing right and Nora could do nothing wrong . My mother used to say , not to kill me. But she often asked me why was I was born . She should have aborted me . So I know what you have gone through . Finding the right man is like finding a gold bar in a pile of poo. I am glad you have found love you deserve it . You are a lovely lady . Thank you Zee for honestly sharing your story. Thank you Justine and Michael for making this important video. As a child I looked up to my parents and thought they they knew everything, that they were "gods." So, of course, everything they said and did affected me deeply and taught me how to think of myself. There are some parents who either learn from their own parents or intuitively know how to be loving, gentle and kind. But many parents, like your mom, Zee, and like my parents, were not loved themselves. So, they did not know how to love. In my case, when I was 13, my 37 years old mother calmly informed me that she wanted to abort me when she found out she was pregnant with me. Can you imagine saying this to a child? "Oh, by the way, I didn't want you. I wanted to kill you." It's almost as bad as what your mother did and said to you. Fact is my mother had no idea what she was saying. She had no idea how inappropriate it was to say such a thing to a child. Luckily for me, somehow, someway, I did not realize what she was actually telling me, until many, many years later, maybe this was because she only said it once. However, when I was 20 years old, she told me, "you are an iron ball chained to my foot keeping me from living my own life." Ouch. That hurt. Still, I tried my hardest to honor her and to love her because that's what the 10 commandments in the Bible say to do. Many years later, I embarked on a spiritual journey to find God. And through this journey, I realized that my parents are not "gods" and they did not nor now know everything. They are MERE human beings, just as flawed, scared, frustrated, overwhelmed with life and trying to survive as others. I realized that my parents did not know what they were doing. And this realization helped me to let go of the pain and to forgive them. I remember but there is no more emotion attached to it, no hurt and no pain. Thank you.

You’re not alone🤗. Many of us……..We’re the same age!☺️. I was looking for a long time outside myself for love and happiness. Until I discovered that I have everything INside! (I started meditating, learned to self soothe(calming my nervous system from feeling very unsafe and unaccepted) and self parent, I had to learn to look at the very negative self talk that resulted from childhood patterns…and understanding I can choose to change this…..I confused being strong with being hard on myself. And therefore on others. My fears made me controlling, which hurt myself and others. And I began to see that it IS possible to change! So important the message this lady gives: compassion for others can only happen if we can be loving and compassionate with and within ourselves. Because everything, EVERYTHING!…starts from within……Big hug!🤗

This touched my heart. The moment Zee told her story and said the hurtful words of her mother out loud her emotions were so profound and deep. Despite therapy. Such wounds, you can learn to handle the feelings but the wounds become a part of you. A token of grief and soulsearching and a token of courage and vulnarability. A part of you keeps thinking you are not enough. By telling her story and by sharing this beautiful video with the world Zee transforms the pain into helping others and spreading love to those of us still struggeling. Only a very special person with a big heart can do that. To forgive and honour the hardship of the one who did this to you is very beautiful. I can relate to the story. Both my parents told me ‘I did not want you’ in my early years. So I cried a river too. My husband and child have healed so much of the pain, by accepting my love and by loving me. I am 59 years old. Still learning, it is going to be ok though. This was transformed in this generation, that is what I am gratefull for. Much love brave Zee.

I could feel Zee's ache. In 57 years of memories, one of my first and repeating ones is of my Mom saying she wished I had never been born. It is painful beyond words to know that yet another has had to nurture themselves in an arid desert through life...and I rejoice in the love and safe space she has found. May we all find our place. Hi Zee, my experience was similar to yours, including physical abuse, so I would like to thank you for sharing your experiences. I agree with your statement that you forgive and understand your parents. You are a wonderful soul, and may God guide you and your family through this life journey. My mother did all sorts, but that's how she was raised, and once I understood, I was able to let go and forgive.
