I love the scene when Sunshin first sees Song Miryeong. She is captured by the glamour and star power of the actress. Little does she know that the woman will soon turn her life and her family upside down! This is a great opening for one of the central themes of this drama, the relationship between the two. Of course, her relationship to her family and above all, to Junho are the other important themes. This is the drama that got me hooked on Korean TV shows and made me a devoted fan of IU.

It's December 2020 and I've just finished watching this drama for the 3rd time. If you haven't seen it yet load up on snacks, drinks and tissue. The story line and characters are believable and the acting is excellent. You will love some characters and want to whack others upside the head. The acting puts Hollywood to shame. Buckle up and enjoy.

Lee Sunshin name's is also the name of a very famous General in Korea's history, much like General Robert E. Lee or Douglas MacArthur in the United States. This is why people in the drama find her name unusual and funny.

In one famous naval battle Admiral Sunsin defeated over 300 Japanese enemy ships with only 13 ships. Hyeshin (Sunsin's eldest sister) is translated as "God of the Sea" and is the name of a very famous naval general Jang Bo Go. Yushin (Sunsin's sister) is the name of general during Korea's three kingdom era; he was also a master swordsman. However, people do not laugh at Sunsin's sister names because their last names are different from the Generals even though their first are the same. Sunsin's first and last name"Lee" matches General Lee Soon Shin's exactly. Lee is also written as Yi in English.
