"You Are There: December 16, 1773 - The Boston Tea Party" (1955)

Under the new tax act imposed by the British government, three ships loaded with tea are docked at Griffith's wharf in Boston, Massachusetts - including one that is owned by merchant Francis Rotch (Michael Emmet). As Rotch debates with John Hancock (Russ Conway) snd Sam Adams (Herbert Rudley), he must consider whether he will risk ruining his ship by departing port with the tea onboard or risk betraying his country and his countrymen by unloading the tea.
This episode first aired on June 26, 1955.
'You Are There' began on radio as 'CBS Is There' in 1947 and ran through 1950. It made the transition to TV in 1953 with Walter Cronkite as a live show, transitioning to being a filmed production two years later.
