Thank you soo much. I just had my MM7 delivered and before that I was looking on Amazon to understand how the fob works. I then figured that that in itself could be a problem since the bike is only about 18 meters away from me. I live in a medium to high crime rate area so this is definitely necessary. I wondered if the MM7 would trigger a notification with me being quite close to the bike. The whole idea of the fob doesn't make sense to me to be fair, Other than knowing that it disarms based on close proximity. So I'm guessing if I'm at home, it's best r to put it in the pouch so the bike's MM7 can't detect it. Thank you, I'm setting it up now
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff9 ай бұрын
Yes, definitely. Unless you live in a mansion use the pouch! 😃. To test the connection range park you bike where you would normally leave it. Drop the fob where you might of left it, say the kitchen table. Go outside to the bike with your phone and connect to the monimoto base unit from the setting menu. Once connected see if the monimoto can see the fob, it will show you whether it can connect or not at that range. If it can still see it the thief can swing your bike around his head and you will never know. Good Luck and glad the video helped.

I make that mistake.. My fob is on my keys... BUT that being said my keys are NOT near the bike or anywhere someone could get them. My bike keys are always in my bike jacket. Ive been meaning to take the fob off and stash it in the jacket somewhere.

I keep mine (for three bikes) stashed in their Faraday bag so they are reasonably convenient to find but always disconnected to the bike. I will admit to having lost one though 🙂

I used to keep my monimoto fob in my bike jacket, which makes it fun when you put on a different one to nip to the shop! The range isn't an issue where I live/park the bike. I would also suggest having a louder, more distinct ringtone. The second time my bike was stolen was at work and I knew the second the ringtone started to run outside, without even looking at my phone to where I had parked, rather than the usual tone which might be ignored if you're busy. The first time the disc lock alarm alerted me to two men "testing their strength" and I was on the phone to the police when it tried to call... I would say the old tracker works well. It pinpointed precisely where they had taken it the first time and the second time to within a few metres. The little darlings wrote it off in the 15 minutes it took for me to get to them in a colleagues car but it's still keeping me updated on it's journey from K-ford to Oldbury to an industrial estate by Thorpe Park and currently it is just outside Newbury! 😂

I bought an Invoxia GPS Theft tracker, and took it out with my cellphone on with me, and was like, oh, works great. Wrong. It was connecting via bluetooth to the phone to upload your position data. As soon as you switch off your phone, or your phone is no longer in bluetooth range of the phone.... it's absolutely useless as a GPS theft tracker device... because instead of using the cellular network like the Monimoto, it uses the Helium IOT network, which cratered and has next to zero coverage at all. I literally have yet to come across one Helium IOT hotspot. They are a little more common inside larger cities, but once you leave a city, you can ever forget running across them. The moral of this story is, before you go relying on a false sense of security, test it in real world usage by simulating a real world theft.

Great feedback on the Invoxia GPS unit, that sounds like a complete waste of time. Monimoto or similar for you now?

Many thanks for the tips. Very useful! So What,s the brand or type of bag recommended for the keyfob? And if possible where to buy it in Europe, outside UK. Cheers

Just search "Faraday Bag" and look for your most convenient supplier to you. Lots of places sell them, I would try your local automotive chain if you want to walk in rather than mail order.

Hi nice review thanks. Can you explain how rhe battery is replaced, recharged? And can a thief detect the device is on the bike with Bluetooth?
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff9 ай бұрын
The batteries on my model last about 9 to 12 months and are the CR123A batteries that used to be very popular in larger cameras. The new Monimoto 9 uses a rechargeable battery and they claim 12 months from that without a charge. A determine thief could use a phone app to scan for nearby bluetooth devices but it wont pinpoint it on the bike and they would have to know the identifier that Monimoto uses. It's not going to be flagged as a security device. This device works well when you can bury it somewhere where access is hard to get to, e.g. a fairing cavity.
@MrEye4get2 ай бұрын
My Monimoto 7 alarm triggers when I jump on the motorcycle with the fob in my mesh jacket pocket. I changed both batteries two months ago and the app shows the batteries are both good. I get called at least three times, so I pull over to open the app and all shows OK. What's up with that?
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff2 ай бұрын
I would connect to the monimoto with your phone app and check the keyfob range hasn't been set to minimum. Set to default and try again, just an idea?

Yes, I think it is excellent. You do need a place to hide it unobstructed by metal but you have free rein to place as it is self powered. Good luck with the mod 2 👍.

I bought a Monimoto yesterday. Here's my problem - it seems metal affects the Monimoto and my Motorcycle is full of metal. The only time I got a phone call is when the monimoto was on my iPhone mount in Plain view Now what?
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff Жыл бұрын
Yes, they don’t like metal at all, like a lot of these devices. No where for one of these on my all metal CB1100EX either. Plastic lockable top or pannier?

@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff10 ай бұрын
get the fobs close to the unit and connect to the Monimoto wirelessly via the app on your phone. You can then change the sensitivity and check the status of the fob battery. Good luck!

do you have to move the bike to get alarm or when its shaken/laid down on parking you get alarm too?
@gthbtn Жыл бұрын
You can shake the bike, as long it detects movement it should trigger.

As gthbtn says, if shaken it will alarm, you can set the sensitivity of that too.

I just came to thank you for your comment on my recent video. Unfortunately it has disappeared from the comment section. Whether you removed it yourself or YT lost it, which seems to be happening a lot, I don’t know. But it was refreshing to see someone with the balls to disagree, and voice their opinion on the matter. I would have a detailed response but your comment section isn’t the place, so I’ll leave it at that. Thanks again and all the best 👍🏼

The fob range is totally crap, how can they make it 10m ? It’s common sense that all users will have the fob in the vicinity of the bike. Make the fob short range, maximum 1m, problem solved
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff10 ай бұрын
It is a long range alright. You can change the sensitivity to movement but not the range, it would make sense if you could adjust that. Hence the Faraday Bag for me.

@@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff yep, but who wants to buy something and need to buy an additional item so first one can 100% work ? 😅
@Pfooh7 ай бұрын
That's actually quite hard. I had the opposite problem: with the monimoto tucked at the back of my bike, with some luggage on top, it wouldn't detect my keyfob attached to the bike keys in the ignition lock. I needed to transfer the fob to my pants pocket to make it work reliably.
