Stick to moisturizing for a couple weeks and cut everything else out of your routine. Use the most gentle cleanser if you’re currently using something that’s not the most gentle. Use something with barrier repairing ingredients like cica, panthenol, etc. The La Roche Posay Cicaplast baum is a good option, it’s very very thick and contains all those good barrier repairing ingredients

@aniyaedwards89964 жыл бұрын
From personal experience, for oily and combination skin, I’d recommend oil cleaning. By applying and massaging oil on your face, you’re tricking your sebum glands to stop producing too much sebum. I used a mix of castor oil and jojoba oil, massage it on my face, grab a clean, steaming hot towel and apply it to my face until cools down. I do that a couple of times until I feel like all the nourishing oil is in my pores. If need be, I apply a little bit of the same oil mix and that’s it. Simple. Works wonders.

Hi I would like to try this now do you apply moisturizer after oil cleansing or you use other cleanser after oil cleansing?

I'd recommend double cleaning if you wear sunscreen as well, which everyone should be wearing 😂. It helps to break down the sunscreen ingredients. The cleansing process is so much better, at least for me it is.
@mary__simone4 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I wear a THICK layer of sunscreen everyday (and unfortunately, the sunscreen I'm currently using leaves a white caste. I'm trying to search for alternatives), and oil-cleansing (I use a balm) first at night helps break it all down, so that my water-based foaming acne cleanser can get everything else out of the pores and penetrate the skin better right after.

So helpful! I haven't been washing my hands beforehand or cleansing long enough. I discovered a huge positive difference after I switched from fabric towels to paper towels. Now I use pure cotton disposable towels. They're about the size of facial tissue but thicker and softer. I used to double cleanse regularly, every 3 days at least because I'd get keratin plugs and oil cleanser was the only non-abrasive way to remove them. Recently after adding salicylic acid, I discovered it keeps the keratin plugs away longer so I probably only need to use oil cleanser once a week now?

Cold water closes pores but if their is dirt and bacteria in them how do you get it out? I’ve always heard to rinse with cold water but not wash...
@sunflowergirl19884 жыл бұрын
United WeStand actually you can’t change the size of your pores they depend on your genetics and also where you live (because of the climate) and from what I have gathered from dermatologist the only way to make them appear smaller is by cleaning well you skin to make sure that your pores aren’t clogged!! If they are clogged they look bigger because there is stuff in them...So cold water doesn’t change the size of them if you see a difference it could only be the fact that your skin gets tighter and usually it is recommended to wash your face with lukewarm water!! I hope it makes sense and it helped you ☺️

Skincare is not equal. Everyone has different skin needs and can tolerate ingredients on certain levels. It is guess work honestly, but once you get with something that works, try to keep going. Healthy clear skin also relies on a health clear system. Eating eight, exercise, vitamins, correct amounts of water, GENETICS, clean hands etc play a part too. May not cure acne, but it can help

I think hormones could be a factor for that. I’m not a derm!!
@kiaralovecarter4 жыл бұрын
Most likely hormonal. Watch what you’re eating cut back on sugars and dairy especially and damn near drown yourself in water. A great spot treatment is the Mario Badescu drying lotion, a great diy sport treatment is tea tree oil. As far as cleaners I think the panoxyl creamy daily wash is a amazing for moderating breaks outs. As far as clearing up breakouts I use the Neutrogena oil free Salicylic acid Aloe face wash, put it on dry first (it’s called the dry cleansing method, when we immediately add water to our liquid cleansers were taking away some of its abilities), then I go in with a face mask, then I use tea tree oil or let the Mario badescu drying lotion sit on the spot over night. There are certain vitamins and natural supplements you can take to balance your hormones such as Maca root. Start with a low dosage. If you’re on birth control though I don’t recommend it.

My issue with my face is I have broken capillaries in my cheeks that give the impression from afar that it’s either acne/rosacea. What can I use to minimize this look? I don’t have any issues with acne. My skin is on the dry side. No oily issues at all. Please HELP!

Hi how are you? I wanted to ask you, should I rinse my face after I wash it with lukewarm water as well? My next question is...what work’s better. Using your hands or a facial brush for cleaning the skin?

What do peptides do for skin, and are products with peptides worth using ? Love your videos !

Thank you! I think peptides can be great when formulated properly but I wouldn't focus on them being the main part of your skin regimen

Another doctor said we need to use cold water for people of skin to avoid inflammation. So what is it? And just use facial tissues instead of towel

I think it's good to wash one's face with lukewarm water, and if your skin is dry, to finish with cooler water as hot water is especially harsh for that type

Hi Doc! What are your thoughts on spinning brushes?
@nataliefletcher67193 жыл бұрын
I know you recommend only double cleansing with heavy makeup. I don’t wear foundation, but I do use a water-resistant sunscreen. Would double cleansing be an important step for me to consider?

I agree with everything Dr. Stevens Saïd but if one is wearing sunscreen twice a day or more then also one should Double Cleanse IMO

@@PhenixJoe Hi, do you remove your sunscreen with just water? Hope to hear. :)

Because I work out at night and sweat so much that it completely removes the SPF regardless

@@PhenixJoe Ah okay. Do you not wash with water in the evening after sweating or after a day of spf? :)

Thank you for this! I really love your content! I just wanted to ask what your thoughts were on using facial brushes?
@larissad25904 жыл бұрын
If you're using a facial brush it should be twice for the week max. Excessive use like how most people use it everyday, can lead to over exfoliation and just irritation of the entire skin. Plus, bacteria can grow in spin brushes because it stays wet in a humid place like the bathroom . I personally don't use face brushes again, I've switched over to chemical exfoliants which offers MUCH more benefits than physically exfoliating with a face brush. It's more effective and not as abrasive as face brushes. I recommend the ordinary aha bha 30% chemical peel. But if you're new to acids in your skin routine there are some gentler ones by the inkey list. I hope this helps. Oh and chemical exfoliants should be used once a week if you're new to it. ALWAYS follow the directions on the packaging.

NO! People need to double cleanse when they wear sunscreen as well and that should be EVERYONE!!
@disneytoysr4fun9754 жыл бұрын
If you have to double cleanse then you either need a better cleanser or you need to wash your face for longer than 15 seconds!! I get my makeup and WATERPROOF sunscreen off in once wash with my basic Cerave Cream to Foam cleanser. Get rid of those non lathering washes and you will see that double cleansing is not necessary. Do you double cleanse your arms and legs?
@junedaisy7074 жыл бұрын
I only wear sunscreen when I go out, and I wipe it off with Dickenson witch hazel wipes, before washing my face. Its the only way I can remove sunscreen, other than using a clarisonic.
