Gilbert Police officers are having a little fun answering the question they receive the most. How heavy is their gear? Well, it depends on the officer!

Even bridge carpenters bags can be more than twice than some days. I checked after a regular day and I was wearing 60lbs. I am also not subject to chasing anything other than that money

Their gear is super light because they're probably not wearing hard plates. My vest is about 41 pounds and my duty belt is about 20 pounds.

Now try that with an army infantryman! He will be carrying 50-90% of his body weight and may have to walk many miles.

I've been both. Have to point out that Officers have to deal in H2H combat at a moments notice because they work alone where suspects get the idea that they can win by attacking first. I was in a scout platoon, and if anyone tells me they are winning in H2H solo combat with their ruck, body armor, water and everything else halfway through a 20 mile movement, sorry I don't believe it. My own experience was to download ruck and other gear prior to direct action on the objective, even if it was just close observation. H2H combat is also kind of a F...up, because obviously squad tactics failed. (I know, somebody is a neck breaking green beret, etc, but I'm not talking about elite, tier 1, whatever) Police usually work in small groups or alone and in spite of legitimate legal justifications are in fact discouraged from using their firearms, almost until it is too late, so wrestling with suspects is just too common for the hindrance of any more gear. Those are just my life experiences. I also competed in amateur boxing, mma and muay thai, and I wouldn't voluntary fight any person my size under any of those rule sets with even ten pounds around my waist.
@ronalddavidleindecker33583 жыл бұрын
@@mrcrhartman I agree with your experience. Never was a cop, but was in 10thSFGA and carried obscene amounts of weight. Usually only took essentials to combat actions. That was still heavy enough. Godspeed.

@@mrcrhartman I've always been taught to drop rucks at an ORP and have a ruck plan. Sometimes bring them to an RP, but typically it's better at an ORP
